(Maxine's Pov)

I roll over and see the light beaming through my curtain. Groaning, I stretch and sit up and remember everything from yesterday. I'm living with vampires, how do I keep going with my day knowing the truth about them. I mean yeah i don't know for sure but i'm pretty positive they are.

Getting out of bed I grab a hoodie and ripped jeans going into the bathroom to change and brush my teeth, Quickly I finish getting ready for the day taking a deep breath I head downstairs. As I walk into the kitchen everyone is there talking, I stop in my tracks as everyone turns and stares at me.

"Good morning Maxine, Did you sleep well?" Esme says to me well she's moving around the kitchen, "Morning, Yes I did thank you" I respond quietly well taking a seat at the table. They all have to be vampires I mean come on they are so pale and I swear, I haven't seen a single one of them eat or drink anything. Looking up I see Edward giving me a questioning look "You know?" he says staring at me.

My eye widen and I sit up straight trying to avoid all their eyes on me. "She knows what Edward? what are talking about?" Carlisle says looking at him curiously, "She knows what we are, but how i don't know" Edward says to everyone. I hear Everyone gasp and stare at me but Alice she's just sitting there with a smile on her face.

Stuttering I look at Carlisle "I.. I don't know what Edward is talking about" I hear him chuckle softly "Maxine is it true? Do you know what we are?" He says to me calmly. Nodding I look down at my lap seeing as my fingers started to look very interesting now. "You guys are vampires aren't you?" I say in a whisper.

"We are hunny, but how did you know?" I hear Esme say as she comes to sit down next to me and sets her hand on my knee. "Well you see my mom was a witch and her best friend was a vampire, My mother had told me all about the supernatural and what to be careful of. Her friend's name was Kate she was like an aunt to me, but I haven't seen her since my mom passed. I trust vampires but wolves I don't" I say quickly to them well getting up to get a water because my nerves are so high right now.

I feel a wave of calmness hit me and look around, Jasper is staring at me with a soft smile. I smile back at him. Carlisle is this first to speak up " Wow it's been a long time since i've seen a witch, I knew there was something special about you yesterday. We also know a Kate she is apart of the Denali Coven, maybe she knew you mother I can call and ask. Why is it that you don't trust wolves if you don't mind me asking?"

Sitting back down next to Esme I feel her hand on my back giving me some comfort I take a breath and began the story and tell them about how my mother was killed and the last time I had seen my aunt. After I finish telling them everything Esme hugs me and I cry silently into her shoulder "I'm so sorry sweetheart, I know it must be so hard not having you mother around anymore but you have us now and we will be here for you forever"

Pulling away I give Esme a soft smile thanking her and look around the room, All of them are starting at me with sad eyes. I make eye contact with Rosalie and she gives me a sad smile, retuning the smile I look back down. "Why don't you eat something for now and we can talk about the rest later, you need a break from all this talking" Esme says standing up and going over to the counter to prepare me a plate.

As I eat my food I think about about how just maybe I might get to see my aunt again, god I miss her so much it's been to long since I seen her. At the same time, I'm upset with her, like, why would she leave me? why not take me with her? I just want answers.
"Are you okay Max?" I jump a little not knowing someone sat down next to me. Looking over at the person, I see that it's Rosalie, and I smile softly towards her.

"Im okay, atleast I will be it's been a long time since i've really talked about mom i just miss her" I say sadly, Rosalie puts her hand out and sets it on my knee rubbing it softly "I understand the pain of missing a person you loved so deeply it never goes away but you learn to live and grow around the pain and i'll be here if you ever feel like talking about her" Rosalie says with a comforting smile.

"Thank you, Rosalie, I really appreciate you and everyone else you've all been so kind." I say well, getting up and setting my dishes in the sink. "Of course, Max," Rosalie says as she gives me a kiss on the cheek and walks away. I touch the spot she kissed and stand there baffled for a minute. After I snap out of my thoughts, I head up to my room to rest for a bit.

Skip to after dinner

"Maxine, will you come to the living room, please?" I hear Esme yell. Walking into the living room i see Esme and Carlisle sitting down on the couch, I quietly sit down across from them and play with my hands. "So Maxine i called my friends from the Denali Coven and I asked Kate about you and she said she is who you say she is" Carlisle explains to me.

Looking up at Carlisle with a smile, I squeal excitedly, "Really? You found my aunt? Do I get to see her?" rambling questions to Carlisle. He chuckles and puts his hand on my knee. "Yes, Maxine, I found her, and she said she'll be here on Friday. She just has to deal with some things first." Carlisle says to me well, smiling. I get up and hug both of them, saying, "Thank you, thank you, for everything."

"Of course sweetheart that's what we are here for" Esme says as she kisses my forehead. "Maxine we have a couple more things we want to talk to you about before you head to bed" Carlisle stated as he looks at Esme, I nod and sit back down to listen to what they have to say "First you cannot tell anyone about us or you for all of our safety okay?" He says to me. "I promise I won't" I say quickly to them.

"Second how Edward knew that you knew what we are is that some of us have special talents like Edward he Telepathy" My eyes widen "so he like can read minds" Carlisle and Esme laugh and nod. "Alice can see the future and Jasper can manipulate the emotions of others" I nod to let them both know i'm still listening, realizing now that Jasper had made me feel calmer earlier. "Bella is a shield she can block the effects of other mental abilities"

All their talents seem so interesting and cool I snap out of my thoughts and focus onto what they are telling me "Emmett has Advanced strength and I have Exceptional Self control" Carlisle says to me. "Lastly Rosalie she has Enhanced Beauty beyond of a typical vampire, her gift is a slight boost over normal vampire powers." he says to me, I smile at the thought of Rosalie.

She really is so beautiful and she seems to be so sweet, I can't help but wonder why she's always in my mind and when she touched me earlier it felt like it was right. I quickly shake my head at the thoughts and look over to Esme, "You don't have a talent?" I ask her. "No sweetheart I don't but people tend to say that I have an incredible capacity for love and compassion" She says to me with a sweet smile.

"One more thing you will have to start school with everyone on monday if you are up to it?" Carlisle says butting in. "Yeah I figured I'd have to start going sometime" I say laughing, I hear them both chuckle at me and stand up. "We are going to go hunting you should probably head up to bed hun" Esme says kissing my forehead. Standing up i give Esme a hug and whisper a goodnight to them both.

Walking upstairs I past Rosalie's room and see the door open and her on the bed reading a book "Goodnight Rosalie, maybe tomorrow we can hang out or something" She looks up from her book and gives me a smile "Yeah of course we can, Goodnight Max sleep well" She says to me. I go to my room and close my door and head to the bathroom to pee.

After I finish in the bathroom, I just strip my pants off and jump in bed, not caring to change into pajamas. Plugging my phone in and curling up under the covers, I fall asleep thinking of tomorrow and what Rosalie and I will do.
