A little time jump to Friday
(Maxine's Pov)

Waking up, I keep my eyes closed, reaching to find my phone, groaning when I hear it hit the ground, then rubbing my eyes and opening them, whining when the light hits my eyes. Quickly using my magic, I shut my curtains and sigh happily when my room becomes dark. Picking my phone off the floor, I look at the time and see it's eight in the morning.

Rolling my eyes at how early it is, I quickly remember that today's the day I get to see my aunt Kate after seven years. Smiling sadly to myself, I close my eyes and whisper, "I miss you, mom," and go onto my phone, looking through the couple pictures I have of her.

After two hours of me just lying in bed, I decided to get up and get ready because Kate will be here at noon. Getting out of bed, I messily make it and grab a white shirt with some jeans that have a few rips in them, along with a belt and an oversized black and white flannel. Going into the bathroom, I wash my face, quickly get changed, and do my hair.

Leaving my room, I head downstairs and into the kitchen. Seeing no one there, I just grab some fruit to munch on and sit at the table. "Good morning, Max," I hear Rose say coming down the stairs. "Morning Rosie!" I responded back cheerfully. She chuckles and walks over and sits down next to me.

"Are you excited to see your aunt today?" Rose asks me, nodding well eating some more of my food, "Esme and Carlisle will be back before she gets here; they just had to hunt before." She explains to me well, and I clean up my mess. "Okay, thank you for letting me know. Will you be here when she gets here?" I ask her.

She hums and gets up to head to the living room. "I will; I haven't seen her in a while," she says, sitting down on the couch. I walk over and sit down next to Rosalie and turn on the television to Criminal Minds, and my eyes quickly glue to the screen. "You've really taken a liking to the show, huh?" Rosalie asked, nodding to let her know I heard her but not taking my eyes off the screen.

I hear her laugh, leaning back against Rosalie, as I cuddle into her side and continue watching the show. She puts her arm around me and watches the show with me. I feel so safe and comfortable here. I smile to myself and try to hide my excitement that Rosalie and I are cuddling.

Taking my phone out of my pocket I look at the time; it reads eleven forty-five. "Hey Max, Kate will be here soon." Carlisle says walking into the living room with Esme. Sitting up, I look at him with a smile, "Yay!" I say to him, Esme and him take a seat on the couch.

Hearing a knock at the door, Carlisle gets up to open the door while the rest of us stay in the living room. After a few minutes, he comes back, and behind him I see my aunt. Tears well up in my eyes as I scramble to my feet, running to her and tackling her into a hug. "I've missed you, Aunt Kate!" I mumble against her shoulder.

"Maxine! I've missed you too, bug," she says, hugging me tightly, "I'm so sorry I left, bug, but I had to." Pulling away, I look at her, "Why though?" Why did you have to? Why not take me with you? "Why'd you leave me?" my voice quavering. I hear Carlisle tell everyone to give us space and hear Rosalie argue with him about it, but they all leave.

"I had to find the wolf that killed your mother. I had to, I know I shouldn't have left you, but I couldn't take you with me, then it would have been too dangerous," she explains to me, moving to sit on the couch as she continues talking. "I wanted to take you with me, and I know that's what your mother wanted, but at the time I just couldn't. I had to find the wolf. I had to control myself. I just couldn't have you around and be in danger, bug," she says to me softly.

Wiping away my tears, I look up at her and give her a sad smile, "I get it, Aunt Kate, I do. I just wish I was with you and not stuck in the stupid foster homes. It was horrible, really." I say to her. "I just missed you so much," I whisper to her, and she kisses my head. "I missed you to Max and your mom, but we're together again, and we won't separate now," she says to me with a soft smile.

"Wait, are you staying here then?" I ask, tilting my head to the side, "Oh, well, actually, I was going to see if you would want to move to Alaska and live with me there." She says well, looking at me. Looking down, I think for awhile: do I really want to move after I found a family that actually treats me well?

After awhile of me in my head, my aunt touches my knee and gives me a comforting smile, "You don't have to bug. I know you are liking it here. The Cullens are great people. They will keep you safe. And now that I know where you are, we can always see each other whenever." Aunt Kate explains to me, nodding and smiling at her, I bring her into another hug.

"Thank you, Aunt Kate, for coming back and for understanding me," I say softly. "Of course, bug, you are my family no matter where you are," she says to me. After we pulled away, Aunt Kate and I decided to go for a walk and catch each other up on our lives.

She tells me all about her family in Alaska, her sister, and the boy she met, whose name is Garrett. I can tell by how she is talking about him that they are meant to be.

After she finishes telling me about her life, I tell her all about the good and bad things that have happened in the last seven years. I hear her growl when I explain to her what happened to me in foster care; I even tell her about my little side, and she says she accepts me and will always be here. I even tell her about my feelings for Rosalie; she doesn't say anything, just smirks and chuckles softly.

Aunt Kate told me she's staying the whole weekend, so that means we have the weekend to catch up, hang out, and do whatever. I'm so excited. After awhile, Aunt Kate and I head back to the house and walk into the living room. Everyone is there, and it's gotten pretty late.

Seeing as they are all vampires and don't need sleep, I let them all catch up, mumbling a goodnight as I head upstairs to my room. Quickly changing out of my clothes, I threw on an oversized t-shirt and crawled into bed. Hearing a knock on my door, I mumble a soft come in and sit up, "Hey Max." I hear Rose's voice. Smiling, I sit up fully, "Hi Rosie."

She smiles at me and walks over and sits on the edge of my bed. "I just came to say goodnight," she says to me. Looking at her, I move towards her and bring her into a hug and kiss her cheek. "Goodnight Rosie," I say softly and lay back down and cuddle into my covers. I feel her stand up and hear footsteps come closer to me. She kisses my head and whispers goodnight, leaving my room.
