From Then To Now
At seven years of age,
I found my first love in the telling of stories;
although the first one I myself tried to write
was just a horribly plagiarized version of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
The next day, front and back in black sharpie, I started my first book,
not knowing I was just making a self-insert fanfiction.I first learned about the expansive world of fanfiction
when I was fourteen years of age.
I knew by then I wanted to spend my life penning books,
but I lacked the tools to properly tell a story,
so I took note from online authors that borrowed toolboxes from their favorite movies
to recreate and reweave the narrative into what they wished had been writtenTens of thousands of hours were spent just practicing my writing,
shaping my tools on the anvil of fanfiction,
honing my skills by discovering new depths to popular movies.
So, by sixteen years of age,
I was taking the thread of others' narratives and spinning a new story
preparing for the day I might finally pen my own book. Then came that day- the star that was my finished book
twinkled into existence. It was bad, but I had done it. I had written
a fully completed story.
Though, still, I returned to my forge of fanfiction,
because, at eighteen years of age,
I had created a shitty narrative I would never turn into a movie.Though, perhaps, my goal shouldn't be to create a movie,
but simply to create a readable book.
Then, at nineteen years of age,
at last, I sparked the fire of the narrative I wanted to write.
Yet I continued to work on my ever-growing fanfiction,
building the voice I needed to tell my story. Here I am now. I have finished telling one story,
And currently, with scenes running through my head like a movie I have finally completely my well-known fanfiction,
and am now ready to compose my own original book,
to pick up my pen, use my own voice, and write.
