One Girl
One Girl
Hopping out of a grey church van
She's so nervous
Will anybody like her?One Girl
She sits by herself
Until a girl walks up
And becomes her friendOne Girl
The duo laugh and talk
Until it's time for supper
Where the duo becomes a trioOne Girl
Meeting her new "family"
She's trying so hard
To control her anxietyOne Girl
She sings, she dances
She tries to have fun
From the dining hall to the campfireOne Girl
She's praying with her "family"
Saying what she wants to
Holding back what she doesn'tOne Girl
She goes to sleep
Where there is no one to save her
From the chaos of her mindOne Girl
Surrounded by nature
Writing down the thoughts
She's too afraid to speakOne Girl
Her frisbee hits a tree
Her mind takes her and runs
How many are secretly laughing at her?One Girl
She goes day by day
Wanting the five days to be up
But also never wanting to leaveOne Girl
She's on Day Two
Not wanting to wear her swimsuit
For fear of how people will see herOne Girl
She's going down the river
Pushing and riding in a tank
She discloses more than she wants toOne Girl
She's on Day Three
Running through a paintball course
Shooting and dodgingOne Girl
She's on Day Four
She wants so bad to open her heart
Can she find the strength she needs? One Girl
She gathers around the campfire
For the last time
The speaker really hits a chordOne Girl
She's finally ready to admit
The one thing she's wanted to
For that whole weekOne Girl
She opens her mouth to speak
Strength rushing in, but in a flash
Her strength is gone, she's silenced againOne Girl
She's finally on Day Five
She's getting her last group time
Last prayer, last canteenOne Girl
She looks around the campground
She's going to miss it here
And all of her new friendsOne Girl
She learned that people care about her
Because sometimes at home
It feels like no one wants herOne Girl
She's realizing that she can't
And that she won't
Let social anxiety control herOne Girl
Broken and afraid
But with the help of her friends
She's learning to put herself back togetherOne Girl
Going home, ready to start
The healing process, ready to let go
Of her anxiety, of her fearsOne Girl
She starts therapy, and suddenly
She doesn't feel nervous anymore
She's actually making some progressOne Girl
Ready for the new school year
But wait, what's that?
A new kid says helloOne Girl
Her heart is pounding
She can't breathe, her hands are shaking
She doesn't know what to doOne Girl
The anxiety attacks are back
But she doesn't let anyone know
She hides everything she's feelingOne Girl
Her anxiety gets worse
She can't go anywhere anymore
Without having an attackOne Girl
She faces each day
Wearing a fake smile on her face
When really she's crying insideOne Girl
Suddenly it's too much to bear
She can't go on anymore
She can't bear to live like thisOne Girl
She picks up the knife
And pulls it across her wrist
Wearing a genuine smile on her faceOne Girl
She's all alone in her time of dying
Nobody knew about her anxiety, nobody cared
She was one girl in a world of manyOne Girl
She sees the light and welcomes it
The anxiety finally broke her
She fixes herself as she slips away foreverOne Girl
She was drowning
But nobody saw her struggle
Until she hit the bottomOne Girl
They read the words she wrote on the wall
With tears on their face
"Somebody, Please Save Me"
