Chapter.1 A New start
Skirt hitched up till it couldn't possibly be made any shorter, shirt unbuttoned just enough to show some cleavage and a fierce red leather jacket with matching accessories; Harriet quickly hurried out the front door into the chill ice winds causing her long blond hair to momentarily blind her.
"Harriet! Hurry up and get in." Michael shouted as he started the car up.
"I'm sorry but i'm going to be late in tonight as there's a lot of paper work that needs doing, i also need to go see someone before i can come home. Will you be alright on your own?"
"Orite, yeah i'll be fine. And it's Harri not Harriet!" She replied sharply.
"Here have some cash get yourself something for tea save yourself the trouble of cooking. Will you please sort out your uniform, your going to school not a fashion show." He said as he handed her two £10 notes.
"This is meant to be a fresh start for you. So i don't want any trouble, okay?" He added on a more serious note.
"Yeah i know and whatever my uniforms fine." She laughed nervously.
What should of of been about a 10 minute drive to school took them about 20 minutes and by this time students had started filling up the outside area of the school. Harri could see the small groups as they carefully drove past them to park the car. The tension inside her kept building until it all become too much and she got out the car causing Michael a panic.
"What the hell are you doing!" Michael shouted after her.
"I just need some air. I'll see you inside, bye." As she closed the car door.
With that Harri made her way towards the school. This was it make or break, things had to work today. Once inside she made her way towards the office to receive her time table and tutor. Michael had refused to tell her anything and told that she would be treated like any other student. After a while of aim less walking she found where she needed to go and made her way inside.
Sonya; Michael's secretary greeted her and told her she needed to wait here for Mr Byrne to go over a few things with her before she could get her timetable. She'd been sitting there for what seemed forever when the door opened, thinking it to be Michael Byrne she looked up. Though much to her surprise in came a stern looking woman with blond hair tightly pulled back into a ponytail came marching in with who Harri guessed must be her children.
They sat down on the seats to the right of Harri, she couldn't help but be intrigued by them and out the corner of her eye she could see them, a boy and girl around her age and another boy a few years younger. Sonya also seemed intrigued or maybe more intimidated by them couldn't help but stare. The boy, Harri could see clearly and tried her best not to make eye contact; but they weren't paying any attention to her. They hadn't even noticed her til they had sat down.
Their mum was giving them almost what could be classed a briefing as if they were in a meeting; heads down and out of trouble, it sounded like the talk she had, had with Michael the night before. The accent she recognised, how could she not. They were from Liverpool, plain and simple. But now home sickness had kicked in worse than ever.
"Sorry are studying us for an exam or you just dazzled." The woman snapped at a startled Sonya.
Just as the door opened and Michael Byrne walked in and all eyes fell on him.
"Mrs Barry would you like to come in?" As he walked into his office with the Barry family close at heel.
