Electric Chair

"Come on Kitty get your suit on." Barsad nudges my knee with his foot while I draw.

"Why?" I ask annoyed.

"Because we have Intel saying that a couple of special forces snuck in. We have to go get them."

It's been over four months since everything went to shit. Which means the bomb is going to go off soon. They haven't let me go out in my own yet and they still haven't told me what I'm needed for. I haven't seen Sel since the beginning but I know she's alright. I'm actually planning to get away from them soon. Whatever they need me for doesn't matter to me. I just have to have a really good plan.

I get dressed and join Bane.

"Hailey you go in first, go in quietly and find them. Then call it in and we will join." Bane says. I nod and look around the sides of the building for a window. I find one on the third floor climb up to it. It's small but I can get through. I hear voices close by so I climb a pillar till so I'm up in the beams. I make my way quietly to the voices. I end up being right below them. There looks to be three of the special forces talking to Fox, Tate, and...John. Of course. Maybe they'll separate. The special forces team head for the elevator.

"They are in the elevator heading to first floor." I whisper.

"Copy that." I jump down from the beams and land behind John as they start to walk away with Tate and Fox in front of him. I quickly cover his mouth as the others talk to another guard and pull him behind a pillar.

"What the hell are you doing here? Where have you been?" He whispers.

"With Bane. No I'm not with him nor do I support anything he's doing. They won't let me leave. I have to help them. I'm trying to get out of it. Look his men are going to come through those doors and shoot up the place. They know about the special forces. You have maybe a minute before they come in. You need to get out of here. Hide somewhere and wait for them to leave."

"Come with me." He puts his hand on my cheek. I want to cry but I can't.

"No they'll find me and if they know I'm helping you they'll kill you and Sel."

"But-" I smash my lips into his and he is taken aback. I quickly release when the gunfire starts.

"Go." I jump up into the beams again and look for Bane. I look back at John and he's leaving with Tate. Fox stays behind probably to help the so I jump down to him. I grab him by his arms pulling them behind him and whisper.

"I'm not going to hurt you. I'm on your side and I'll keep you from getting killed. When will the bomb go off?" I ask.

"23 days." He responds just before the men come through the elevator.

"It's okay boys I got him." I lead him to the elevator with the other two men. We take him back to the court house.

I wait in there as they take yet another politician in for "justice". Everyone chooses exile thinking it's better than death when really it's just letting them walk to their own death. I go inside and lean against the wall next to Crane's "throne". They never last long. This man chose exile so they take him to the ice. Which of course he won't make it. They end the court and Crane comes down as people clear out the court room.

"Nice to see you Hailey. Enjoying the show?" He smirks.

"I guess." I shrug.

"What no witty remark? No sarcasm? My my my Hailey maybe we should sit down in my office and give you an examination." He says slowly walking closer.

"Gosh Crane maybe you are insane in thinking that line would work." He clenches his fist and smack his hand against the wall next to my head.

"I am not insane!" He yells. His face sorted and he takes his hand and fiddles with the ends of my hair.

"So pretty." He leans in and I grab his arm twisting it behind him and pressing up against the wall.

"Try that again and I'll personally put you in the electric chair." I release him and walk away.
