I been in Oakland my whole life. I ain't know nothing except these hood ass streets. But it made me who I am today, and I can't complain about that.

I kept the same company which wasn't much since I had a attitude and refused to hide it. Can't deal with it? Didn't ask you to.

My aunt raised me. She's all the mother I will ever need.

"Lani!"

Speak of the devil. I thought as I smiled slightly.

"What!" I yelled back.

"You got a ride to school or you want me to take you cause if you want me to take you, you need to come on now." I heard her at my door.

"Aight." I sighed, slapping on my bandana, grabbing my back pack and slinging it over my shoulder as I followed her out the house.

"You look cute today." She commented as we pulled out the driveway.

"I bummed it." I laughed, looking down at what I had on. A jumpsuit, a gray tank to go under it. And a pair of Gray and White Roche Runs. With my bandana and no make up.

"You don't need much, Lani, that right there..." she said, waving we finger over me. "Is natural perfection."

I smiled. She always told me how beautiful I was without all the makeup.

"Thanks ma." I sighed as we pulled up to my school.

"See you tonight." She patted my cheek.

"Okay. Love you." I said getting out the car.

"Love you, too."

I walked to the school in silence. I didn't really have friends. I had one best friend, but she didn't go here and since I was fairly new, only about a month, all the girls were "afraid to talk to me." I had already got into two fights. And my tattoos didn't help the intimidating look I already had.

"You look like you bout ready to beat some ass right about now." Juan, this dude who had been bugging me for the past couple days, said as he started walking besides me. "Still bad as hell tho."

Juan was known for being a player. He would easily juggle 6 girls at one time and not get caught. I had made it well known I wasn't gone be his 7th.

"Could be." I shrugged, opening my locker and getting my calculus book out my backpack before throwing it in there and locking it back.

"World star." He yelled, cupping his hands over his mouth for amplification.

"Shut the hell up." I laughed, shoving him lightly cause people started looking. I looked over and saw he wasn't standing next to me no more. I looked behind me as he was staring at my ass like an idiot. I clicked my tongue.

"You look dumb just standing there." I turned back around and made my way to first period.

Which I shared with Juan.

He walked in a little after I did and sat right next to me. We were the only ones in the as of right now. Since the bell didn't ring for another 6 minutes.

"Damn you ont spend no time in the halls, ma." He chuckled, looking over at me. I shrugged.

"Why? I'm not here to socialize." I said, checking over my homework.

"Good you don't need to be talkin to no other niggas anyway."

I rolled my eyes.

"Why?" I asked just to humor him.

"Don't ask no dumbass question like that." He clicked his tongue, facing me completely and pulling my desk closer to him.

"Boy of you don't..." I slapped his chest, moving my desk back as people started to file in.
