"Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty." A voice I didn't recognize was what woke me up, and given I didn't recognize it as any of the Avengers I had met, my first response was, well - sort of violent.
By sort of I mean I jerked into a sitting position and threw the intruder against the wall simultaneously. Once I saw him, I only slightly hesitated. With short, dark hair, one arm made entirely of metal, and a highly amused smirk, I wasn't sure if he was a threat, or an Avenger I had yet to meet. Either way, he seemed entirely unfazed by the fact that an unseen force was holding him against the wall, his blue eyes shining.
Did everyone in this tower have blue eyes?
As soon as the thought passed through my mind, I remembered the electrifying, almost neon shade of Pietro's eyes. It was an image I was swift to push away.
"Who're you?" I asked in a voice thick from sleep, shoving a hand through my hair. "Are you an Avenger?"
"Bucky Barnes," he introduced himself, his smile only growing, "and yes. Yes, I am. Is this how you greet Avengers?"
I hesitated before letting him drop to his feet. "No," I said, not bothering to discuss the sourness in my voice. "It's how I greet people who wake me up," I grumbled, scrubbing one hand over my face before returning my attention to him. "I am not a morning person."
Bucky chuckled. "Yeah, I picked up on that."
I sighed wearily, forcing myself to roll off the bed. I straightened to my full height, but quickly found it didn't matter, because Bucky (like every other male in this place) had a good head on me. "I'm guessing you were warned I had powers, since you were completely not scared."
"I don't scare easily, kid," Bucky stated. "But yeah, Steve warned me."
"Oh," was my unemotional response.
He nodded, then headed back toward the door, giving me a look over his shoulder. "So you coming, or what?"
"Coming where?" I asked, attempting to straighten out my shirt some before giving up on it entirely. I was going to go with the 'I slept in these clothes,' look, because that was exactly what had happened. Maybe Wanda had some clothes I could borrow-
"Breakfast," Bucky interrupted my thoughts. "Don't worry, none of the Avengers cook. Stark's got a chef for that." And without further explanation, he made his way out of the room I had spent the night in, and down the hall.
Figuring I didn't have many other choices (nor did I want to spend hours wandering the ginormous Tower looking for a familiar face) I followed after him quickly, absently shutting the door behind me with a telekinetic nudge. "Were you with them when they found me?" I asked, catching up with him.
He briefly glanced over at me. "No. A few of us weren't."
"Oh," I said again. My brain doesn't function the best in the mornings, as was being displayed now.
Bucky and I kept on in silence all the way through another elevator ride, but once the doors slid open on the new floor, I spoke again, "Will everyone be at breakfast?"
"Nope," he shook his head. "Rhodes is off with the Air Force, Thor's visiting his girlfriend, Vision doesn't eat - which is still weird - Barton's off with Romanoff training, Stark ate with Pepper, and Banner's still sleeping."
I blinked several times. "I, um- I didn't understand most of that. Except Clint, I know Clint's last name is Barton, and Tony Stark-"
"You haven't met Thor?" That seemed to surprise Bucky the most. "Ah, well, you'll see him at some point, I'm sure. He's hard to miss. Let's see, Rhodes is Stark's friend-slash-side-kick, Vision's an android that's not really an android, Natasha Romanoff is Barton's partner, Pepper is Stark's girlfriend, and Banner is-"
