Chapter 7

She ran past him and activated her kekkei genkai, quickly navigating her way out the maze and to Vinter.

She panted heavily as she kept losing blood.

Finally, she saw him.

Not waiting to reach him, she yelled out before losing consciousness.

"Marquis Berdandi!" Hinata yelled. 

He turned around just in time to see her fall sideways.

He ran to her and placed a hand behind her head to support her head up.

"My lady! My lady, open your eyes!" Vinter tried to keep her from losing consciousness. 

He grimaced as he saw the blood flowing freely from her throat.

He looked around and used his magic to slow down the flow of blood.

He picked her up bridal style and ran to the hall.

He yelled upon reaching.

"Young Lord Eckhart!" Vinter yelled.

Derrick upon seeing Penelope bleeding profusely from the neck, dropped his glass, which shattered on impact.

"Penelope! Marquis Berdandi what is the meaning if this?!" 

"Lord Eckhart, please prepare the carriage! I'll explain what I know then!"

Derrick ran out of the banquet hall and ordered a servant to fetch the carriage. 

"Please hurry! She's losing blood!" Vinter urged.

"My lords! It will take time for the carriage to arrive!" A servant informed. 

Derrick was trembling.

Vinter pulled out his handkerchief before pressing it against the deep cut on her neck.

"W-What about my carriage?! Is it nearby?!"

"I shall bring it right away!" The servant exclaimed. 

Five minutes later, the servant brought the carriage.

Derrick immediately held open the door, allowing Vinter to carry Penelope inside.

"To the Eckhart Mansion! Quick!" Vinter called out.

Hinata stirred.

"Penelope! Open your eyes! You'll be fine!" Derrick tried.

Derrick bit his lower lip when she stopped moving and did not wake up.

"Please do not worry. We are almost there." 

Derrick nodded.

"I apologize for showing this ugly side of myself." 

Vinter shook his head.

"Anyone would do the same. It shows how much you care."

Once the carriage came to a stop, Derrick carried Hinata inside the mansion.

Vinter stood in the living room as the Duke came to meet him after addressing the situation of his adopted daughter.

"Marquis. Thank you for lending us your carriage. If not for you, I do not know what would have happened." 

"I just did what anyone else would have done. If it is not too much, could you please update me on the Lady's situation once she is better? I am quite worried."

The Duke smiled at him.

"Of course."
