Chapter 2

Hinata Pov

I woke up to the sound of knocking. I looked to the side and saw the butler, Pennel looking at me with a solemn expression.

"The Duke has asked for the Lady's presence this instance. Please follow me." - Pennel

I held up my hand for him to stop.

Back home, I was called weak by my own Father and he wouldn't care about me even if I died. The servants of the household had no reason to respect me but not once did they disrespect me.

I decided to ignore the butler's behavior for now.

I gesture to my night dress.

"Do you expect me to greet the Duke wearing this?" - Hinata

He was flustered on being called out.

"Wait outside while I change." - Hinata

"Ye-Yes, my lady...!" - Pennel

I quickly changed and followed Pennel to the Duke's office.

Unlike how he entered my room abruptly without my permission, he knocked on the door and announced my arrival and opened the door only when he heard a 'come in' from the other side.

I walked inside and greeted him.

"I heard there was a commotion this morning." - Duke

"Yes. But it is nothing Your Grace needs to be concerned about." - Hinata

Upon hearing my response, he immediately slammed his fist on the table.

"Penelope Eckhart." - Duke

Uh oh. The full name drop.

"Since when?" - Duke

"Pardon?" - Hinata

"Since when have they been treating you like this?" - Duke

He acts as if he cares. If he does care then why did he not stop Penelope's execution?

"It has been going on for quite some time now, Father."- Hinata

He looked shocked for some reason... Oh! I called him Father!

"But my maid had nothing to do with it." - Hinata

It's not a lie anyways. Well not completely. The maid couldn't have done it on her own. The head maid and the kitchen staff must've helped obviously.

"I see... Then I will not punish her. We should decide a new maid for you." - Duke

"I'll be fine with having Emily as a maid, Father." - Hinata

He nodded but I could see he was hesitant.

"Also, Father! I have a small request to make..." - Hinata

"A request? Don't worry I'll get you new jewels." - Duke

"That's not it Father. I'd like a small portion of the training grounds to myself." - Hinata

"Wh-What?!" - Duke

"Father I know this is surprising but I am serious. You can put me on probation again, just please let me use a portion of the training grounds." - Hinata

I need to train. In the future, I'll face a lot of troubles. The Leila, the Crown Prince and what not.

Toneri too...

I need to train this body for that.

I need to train to save Hanabi.

I looked at the Duke, determined.

He was hesitant once again but nodded his head with a sigh.

I smiled in relief.

"Thank you, Father." - Hinata

"Then I shall take my leave... Have a good day, Father." - Hinata

I walk out the door and let out a sigh.

I wouldn't have been able to deal with all this if I was from any other clan. Us Hyugas receive very strict etiquette and speech classes.

I notice Derrick walking towards me with a frown.

"I thought I told you to live quietly. Not even a day has passed and you have already caused another commotion." - Derrick

I know that he knows what actually happened. Yet he is trying to humiliate me.

I would've stayed quiet but after knowing how many times Penelope was killed because of him, just the sight of him makes my blood boil.

"The fault was not mine but the kitchen staff's, Young Master. You might want to keep up with the news lest you wish to tarnish the Eckhart name by feigning ignorance." - Hinata

He looked at me shocked but then his face turned into that of anger.

He opened his mouth to speak but I walked past him without waiting for his reply.

This was how the conversation would've ended if not for my weak body.

My vision tilted to the right and I felt myself falling. 

Why now?!

I closed my eyes and braced for the impact but it never came. Instead, I felt a strong arm loop around me, giving me support. 

I opened my eyes to see solemn blue eyes staring at me.

I firmly pushed him away.

I did a courtesy and walked away.

I don't like the way he looks at me.
