Wu Lei gave chase till the edge of the bamboo forest; lured into Yi Mei's base at a small mountain occupying the East of Juwu.
"Ya Rong!" He called.
She stood by herself, alive, in the middle of the stadium.
He blinked with a bit of hesitation. He had his suspicion, but still rushed over to her. "What happened? Did they hurt you?"
She shook her head, closed her eyes when he held her hands, and with a heavy heart whispered, "I'm sorry...Liu Qian."
His lips slightly curved into a smile. He pressed on her shoulders, "It's alright, I will take you out of here in one piece. I promise."
Ya Rong closed her eyes and the tears fell. "Sorry." She repeated in her breath. Then she stared into his eyes before stabbing him in the stomach with the knife that he gave her for protection. Heartlessly she whispered, "I don't have a choice."
He gasped in utter shock before looking down to see her tight grip on the knife that pierced his body. He gaped, and gasped in bewilderment, staring into the eyes of the woman he thought loved him. Whatever wrong she did, he was ready to forgive her. If she was the one who set this trap, he would forgive her. But why did her trap had him as the collateral? How heartless.
Wu Lei grimaced at the betrayal by a person that he had trusted all these years; a friend, a missed wife of his older brother; the lover that he had regained. The shock turned into anger. He closed his eyes, and took in a deep breath as a last moment of acceptance. With a soft smirk, he grabbed the hand that was gripping tightly on the knife that was killing him, and without hesitation, he pulled it out. He knew if he took the knife out he would die, but he rather be dead than looking at her. Blood soaked his robe as he covered the wound with one hand. He thought they were done, but his other arm was caught by a rope. Her people came out and circled him. They got him by the ropes on all of his limbs.
"DON'T HURT HIM!" Ya Rong shouted at them.
Wu Lei chuckled. He never thought this would be his ending. Fine if he were to end like this, but how much worst could he be betrayed? Not only did she hurt him, but she allowed for people to capture him. He refused to be captured. He struggled for a moment before pulling with all of his strength to rip the ropes, breaking away from their holds.
Ya Rong trembled when he glared at her and croaked the two words that end their relationship.
"We're done." He uttered.
Ya Rong's lips quivered. She shook her head. She refused, but she knew she crossed the line. Her hands dropped the knife that was used to hurt him. From behind her a woman flew forward. She was a poison master, and with one swoop she dust the area in front of Wu Lei with white powder in an attempt to blind him. No matter how quick he was some particles got in and burned his eyes. Wu Lei became delirious. He laughed at his failures while celebrating his coming death. But Xue Hua wasn't someone who would die without a fight. He calmed himself before using his ears to listen to their footsteps and movements. It was a fail attempt at first. He was not used to not having a working pair of eyes, and there were just too many of them. They had prepared this specifically for him, under the instructions of Fan Ya Rong.
"DO YOU HATE ME THAT MUCH?" Wu Lei shouted at her direction. He was unable to figure out the footsteps and movements that passed by him, but he groaned when he felt a sharped object slicing across his skin. Everywhere on his body, there were cuts, and it hurt. It sting for a brief moment before he became numb to it.
"Liu Qian! Please understand..." She pleaded in agony. She hoped he would understand once all this end. She never meant to hurt him this badly, but if she don't listen to them then they would not let her live. For survival, she endured and made sacrifices. He would understand, he was the only other person that would understand what she had to go through. She believed and tried to explain to him. "I need that jade seal, it's related to Liu Wan...I need to save him!"
