Chapter 8: Traveling and Hunting

The trip wasn't displeasing at all; Art enjoyed it. What could be better than just chatting with your close friends and family? He just sat comfortably in his mother's lap and listened to cool stories of Angela.

From the window of the carriage, he could also see the beautiful scenery. The mountains they were approaching and the green forest surrounding them. Before they reached that place, a few hours would pass for sure, but they weren't hurrying.

He smiled, and using his soft hands as support, the little guy placed his head on them and continued to listen. The baby fat on his face was also so soft, it almost seemed like his face was getting squashed. as if his head was jelly.

"I can't hold back!"

Wow! Wow! Wow! Arthur screamed in his mind. He was roughly grabbed by Angela and smashed into her chest. Now his face is literally engraved on someone else's body.

"How can Reynolds train you so much? We can't let you become skinny; you are too cute this way. You must eat more!" For some reason, Angela seemed angry at his father, and the reason for that was his training.

Helana was listening to their chatter, and so while others didn't expect her, the woman's head popped into their views from the window. She asked if it was time to settle down, make a camp, and hunt for some food. The idea was approved by everyone, especially Angela.

Art was scared. This woman was dangerous. She almost killed him a few times, and hell, he didn't want to die because of diabetes. Was that even possible in one sitting? With her around, it looked quite possible.

Helen shouted something to the rear guard, and the carriage came to a stop.

"So, how's my boy feeling on this journey?" Soon after the stop, Reynolds came to the carriage and picked up his son like a true father. *Mwua* He kissed him on the cheek and hugged him. "You aren't tired yet, are you?" He asked.

Arthur just shook his head.

"Good!" Father nodded approvingly and said, "I'll be taking you to the forest. We need to teach you how to hunt."

"Really?!" the youngster exclaimed, his voice full of joy—finally, some action. With his father's nod came another question, though. Was the mother's approval required? Art looked at her, and, surprisingly, she wasn't against it. She had a smile on her face.

"Yeah, we thought it'd be good to teach you really important things in everyone's life. How to get food in the wild is one of them."

The boy's eyes grew larger. Seriously? Were these words really coming out of his father's mouth? Did he get smart while he was taking a nap?

That was the good news anyway, so he was happy about that. He'd get to learn something new... or not so new, but still a fantastic experience

"Alright, Art, and I will proceed and get some food." Rey turned around hastily, and nobody understood why he was in such a hurry. The reason soon came out. Alice wasn't going to let him go alone with their son.

She may have trusted him, but Alice doesn't want her son to experience something traumatic. After all, Reynolds is quite the dunderhead and can overdo it. So, it'll be better if someone accompanies them.

"Helen, can you go with them, please?" Alice looked at her friend, who was about to follow the duo of son and father. But before she could step forward, someone else volunteered.

Jasmine raised her hand and said, "I'll go." It was not even a surprise at this point; everyone knew how attached Jas had grown to the little auburn-haired guy. Actually, that was for the best of both of them. The dark-haired girl can also learn a skill or two.
