Rachel's POV

"Court is now in session," The judge called banging his gavel on the wooden surface.

I looked around the courtroom. There was a lot of people here hoping to see Richard put behind bars, the jury looked tough and the bailiff even looked angry. The lawyer sat across from me, who intends to put Richard behind bars, gave me a sly smirk. Thankfully, Vinny had showed up so I can question him, but Richard's ex didn't.

The judge had a sign on his desk that said 'Judge Sola' on it - one of the best judges in the country so this could either go very well or very bad there is no in between.

"Your honour?" I spoke up.

"Yes Miss. Paige?"

"The aim of today's court session is not to get Mr. Olson set free because I know that that is going to take a while, but the aim is to get him put under house arrest. You see your honour, my client was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time as far as I am concerned and he is no real danger to society. He is in a holding cell when he hasn't really done a thing so I think what we should actually do is put a bracelet on his ankle and not allow him past his mail box; it seems like a more just punishment considering he hasn't done anything."

The judge thought about my proposition for a minute before nodding. "Motion granted," He announced and banged his gavel on the wooden surface. "Richard you will be under house arrest until the end of your trial."

Richard nodded, but said nothing.

"Your honour!" The other lawyer yelled in protest.

"Silence Mr. Balz! One more outburst like that and I will be forced the remove you from the court room." Judge Sola yelled.

Mr. Balz nodded and sat down quickly. Now it was my term to shoot him a sly smirk.

"May I?" I asked. Judge Sola motioned to the floor to say that the stage is mine. "The court calls Vinny Mauro to the stands."

Vinny immediately stood up and walked quickly and obediently to the stands. "Good morning Mr. Mauro it's lovely to see you again," I smiled warmly.

"Same to you Miss. Paige," He nodded.

I took the bible from the bailiff. "Please place one hand on here and one hand on your heart." Vinny did as I asked. "Thank you Mr. Mauro now you have to take this oath to make sure you're one hundred percent honest with me okay?" He nodded again. "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God?"

"I do," He vowed.

"Thank you Mr. Mauro." I handed the bible back to the bailiff. "Now Mr. Mauro where were you on the night of February 11th?"

"I was working a late shift at the Bush Street Co-Op."

"Did you serve anyone on your shift?"

"Ricky came in to buy a packet of cigarettes as he usually does," Vinny nodded.

"Now based on the fact you call him 'Ricky' you're pretty close to him am I right?"

"I know him well yes."

"You know him well? Does Mr. Olson seem like the sort of person to commit such horrendous crimes?"

"Of course not! He's scared of spiders for goodness sakes!"

"Your honour what does this have to do with anything?" Mr. Balz interrupted.

"Overruled!" Judge Sola yelled. "Continue please dear."
