"To say I was surprised you asked me to come over would be an understatement," Shisui spoke as he sat on Obito's couch.
Sitting on the opposite end, Obtio told his cousin, "I am too."
Huffing a short laugh, Shisui's eyes scanned the coffee table as he asked, "Then why am I here?" He looked at Obito, "You haven't been very social since the accident."
"Of course I haven't been social," Obito snapped, "My face terrifies anyone I see-"
"I'm your brother, Obito," Shisui cut him off, "Family tree be damned, I am your brother. I don't give a shit what your face looks like. None of us do. You're the same man we knew before accident. And Y/n sees-"
"Isn't here," Obito grit out.
Not hiding his displeasure, Shisui snapped, "Dammit, Obito. That's not the point right now. She loves you. She- what?" He could see Obito biting his tongue.
"You don't know what she wants. You don't know how she feels." Trying to regain his composure, Obito took a deep breath in. "That's why I asked you over." Seeing Shisui wanted more to go on, Obito finished, "Have you seen, Y/n?"
Cutting his eyes away, Shisui wasn't sure what to say. "Recently?" He asked.
"Why do I not like the way you answered the question?" Rhetorical question aside, Obito answered Shisui, "Why not in general."
Shisui was at war with himself. He wasn't sure how to answer the question. Honesty might be the best policy, but Obito may not think the same once he hears it. Obito deserved the truth, though, right?
Looking back to Obito, Shisui prepared himself for the backlash to come, "I've seen her twice since you slept with Anko," Obito waited as patiently as he could for the rest of Shisui's story. "The first time was only a few days after. We kissed. That was it."
The wheels were spinning as Obito grit his teeth. Did he want to ask questions? Should he let Shisui even continue? What was it about Shisui that drew Y/n in? Could things have ended differently if Obito had listened to Madara in the beginning? Would Y/n and Shisui be together today?
One thing that Obito knew for a fact- Shisui would never have cheated on Y/n.
"Does she love you?" Obito managed to speak evenly even though the anger had washed all sound away.
Dejected by the question, Shisui answered honestly. "I think she could have."
Something between a scoff and laugh escaped Obito, "The fuck does that mean?"
"It doesn't matter, Obito," Shisui wanted to change gears. "I've moved on. Viv and I have been dating since before your accident. But afterwards, we became serious. I'm going to ask her to move in, Obito."
Curious, Obito asked, "If Y/n walked into your penthouse tomorrow," Shisui frowned, "you're telling me that you'd turn her down?"
"Yes," he replied. "There's a difference between the love I have for Y/n and the love I have for Viv. You may not want to hear it, but I'll always love Y/n. I was in a vicious cycle of Izumi and a string of random women. Y/n opened my eyes to the world again. She showed me how a woman should be. Because of her, I found Viv. Otherwise, Viv would've been a conquest to conquer. And once I had achieved the goal, I would've moved on."
Did Y/n really have that effect on him? Hell, she had some kind of effect on most men- on most people. Izumi changed over the years. Sakura too. Even Sasuke has a softer side ever since Y/n entered the family.
Leaving well enough alone, Obito asked, "And the second time?"
Happy his cousin had moved on, kind of, Shisui answered, "I had gone to surprise Viv. Y/n was there. It was the day Danzo was killed."
