My best friend is the most powerful fairy of our age, and me? Well, I'm a useless fairy who can't even make flowers bloom.
One night, I make a wish that I didn't know would come true.
Now, I'm stuck in my best friend's body and she in mine.
Kendra and I both hurriedly ate our lunch. We could not wait to see if our trap had worked.
I quickly ate the lunch and washed it down with apple juice.
I got up, and at the same time so did Kendra.
"You ready?" She asked.
"Yes," I replied, and we were off.
As we flew to the Filli Forest, I couldn't help but notice that Kendra was ahead of me for the first time. I guess having my body does have some advantages.
As we landed in the clearing, I noticed that Headmistress Malae was already there.
There was also a small elf-like creature trapped inside a magic bubble.
"We've caught the Gyn, girls." Headmistress Malae said, smiling. "However, it refuses to talk. I was hoping you could persuade it to reverse the wish."
Kendra and I walked closer to the bubble. I was able to get a closer look at the Gyn.
It was a small little thing with elf ears and big eyes. Its skin was a deep brown color, and its face was set into an angry frown.
When it saw me, it recognized me at once.
"Reverse this wish right now!" I yelled at the creature.
"Ah, but you do not wish for this wish to end. You enjoy having power." The Gyn said.
"I do want this wish to be reversed" I yelled at it again.
"You made this wish with jealousy in your heart. It cannot be reversed until you let go of it."
"You were jealous of me?!" Kendra exclaimed.
"It's hard not to. I mean, you're so powerful and amazing and I'm here being useless, and everyone tells me to be like you but I'm not."
"I'm sorry. I didn't know you felt that way." Kendra said, hugging me.
I felt something change inside of me. Kendra was amazing and all but I'm me and I don't know why I was trying to be like her.
I turned to the Gyn.
"There. I've let go of my jealousy. Now reverse the wish."
"No can do." It spoke.
"What do you mean? You said if I let go of my jealousy, you could reverse the wish."
"I said the wish could be reversed. I can't do it."
"Well, then who can?!" I yelled.
"Calm down. We'll find a way out of it." Kendra reassured me.
"She speaks true. You must find my twin. He is the only one who can reverse the wish I granted." The Gyn said.
"What do you mean?" Headmistress Male spoke, for the first time in a long time.
"Gyns are always born in twins. One to grant wishes and one to reverse them. It is not within my power to reverse your wish, even if I wanted to." It said, "Not that I want to."
It smirked and continued.
"My twin lives in the Forest of Festivities. To get there you need to pass the Desert of Dance and then meet the Gnome of Fun, who will open a portal to the party realm where the Forest of Festivities lies. Many Gyns live there, so to find my twin, you have to hop up and down on one leg, stick out your tongue and yell Freppy."
"Really?" I gasped. I had never heard of any of these places.
But then, I didn't pay attention in Geography of Naira, so I can't say anything.
I turned to Kendra who probably knew of these places since she paid attention in class.
"Is it true?" I asked her.
"That's a lie." Said Kendra. "There's no such place as 'the desert of dance' or 'gnome of fun' or 'the party realm.' Tell us the truth this time."
"How do you know?" It smirked.
"Because ... I ...
umm... I just know." Kendra stammered.
The gyn sighed. "You caught me. I just love pranking people."
"Please tell us the truth this time Mr. Gyn." Kendra pleaded with the Gyn.
"Ugh, fine." The Gyn groaned. "And my name is Treppy."
Treppy continued on "Freppy, my twin can be found near the Spring of Sedie. Which is located in the Humi Forest. But you must be careful on your journey as it is full of dangerous monsters. Now I have told you everything I know. Please tell the tall one to let me go."
Headmistress Malae waved her hand the bubble trapping Treppy popped.
"I wish you luck on your journey. Now, I am off to find some others to prank. Goodbye fairies." And then Treppy teleported away.
"Well, he was quite weird," I spoke.
"I mean, he was a bit eccentric," Kendra said hesitantly.
"Now girls, you have a quest to go on, so I suggest you fly to your dorm and start packing some necessities." Headmistress Malae said. "I'll meet you here in half an hour."
And so, Kendra and I flew off to our dorms.
We grabbed a small backpack, and put some stuff in it like some food and a map of the Hemi Forest. Keandra also grabbed a small booklet on common monsters and how to fight them.
"In case we bump into some. Treppy said there would be monsters." Kendra said.
"If we bump into a monster, you're not gonna have time to open the bag and read the booklet on how to kill it. You'll yeet random magic at it and hope it dies whilst trying not to get eaten." I mumbled but let her put it in our backpack.
Half an hour later, we were ready. So, Kendra grabbed the backpack, since my body was physically stronger, and we flew to the Filli forest where we had caught Treppy.
Once again, we found Headmistress Malae waiting for us.
"Hello girls, I hope you both are ready for your quest."
"We are. But aren't you coming with us?" Kendra asked.
"Unfortunately, I can't. I've got to manage the school. However, you two are both gifted and capable of going on a simple quest. Plus, it'll be a good learning experience for you."
She was correct, but I would've felt safer traversing into a forest with monsters in it if there were an experienced fairy with us. Even though Kendra had lots of magic, I was not able to control it very well.
But, how hard could it be to go into a forest, find a Gyn and get it reverse my wish?
Little did I know, that it would be quite hard indeed.
