Quackity stepped out of his parents truck, pressing his fingers onto the opening of the door. The truck was a dark shade of blue but felt rough and warm to the touch around the edges, making it blaze with age. (His parents refused to get another one, saying that 'It worked well enough, why should we buy a new one?')

Before him, stood a drowsy home, a wrecked house. The wood that bound the building together looked rusted and old and tarnished whatever hope he had of living in luxury. By this rate, the rats had already gotten to it. He squinted at it, feeling disappointment and anger crawl onto his shoulders, reminding him of what could have been. Wow, new house, how great.

Guess I'll be living in a pile of dogshit for the next few years.

He was currently 15, turning 16 in December. He didn't understand why they were moving, he didn't understand a whole load of things concerning this place. They were quite alright in the city, living comfortably within their apartment without disturbing anyone or anything. After trial and error, he had finally found a group of friends at school, and finally, once he was starting to settle in, they had to go! Up and leave! Almost like the universe was out to get him.

When his parents announced it, Quackity's heart fell to his stomach like a pebble. No way, was his immediate though, no way will my work won't go down the drain, just like that!

But his mother was just as stubborn as him and there was no changing her mind when she had made it.

His brother pulled the other door open, almost breaking it completely, and he ran out only to find himself standing next to Quackity. They're expressions were day and night- Where Quackity looked upset, disappointed and angry, Tommy was beaming, excited, and uncontainable.

There always seemed to be a light around his little brother everytime anyone even glanced at him. No matter how dark and cold Quackity was, he was always somewhere around to strike his rays on unsuspecting victims.

"Big Q! Big Q, are you seeing this?!" Tommy gripped onto Quackity's sleeve- a striped long sleeved shirt- and shook him. Quackity smacked his hand away and crossed his arms, turning his head away from him. "It's just a house, Tom, get over it."

"Alex, don't be mean to your brother!"

Q rolled his eyes once he heard his mother's shrill voice. But Tommy's spirit did not waver at the contact, in-fact he got over it quickly (after trying to shove him for the third time). It might've even increased as he spent more time looking at the house. Where Quackity thought it was old and unsteady, Tommy thought it was the place of his dreams. "Mam, can we go in?"

"Go ahead, darling. Alex, keep an eye on your brother, would you?"

Quackity ignored her. He looked out behind him and found himself staring at a stone bridge, overlooking what looked to be a shallow river, heading to who knows where. Maybe there was a lake somewhere around here. Great, oh how splendid! Living next to fish and frogs, what more could they want? "Alex!"

"I'm going, I'm going." He rolled his eyes, annoyed, and walked forward, but Tommy was already way ahead of him, knocking on the door. When he himself approached the door, he could hear a voice mumble 'oh dears' and ask to wait a few minutes, though by the time he came to the door, a strange looking man stepped forth.
