word dump : janette was born in the enchanted forest, daughter of killian and milah jones. janette was raised on the jolly roger, following in her parents footsteps with her love of traveling and the ocean. her middle name, pearl, became a nickname for her father; he frequently referred to her as "his little pearl".
however, when janette was roughly five to six years old (give or take a few years die to time spent in or around neverland), rumplestiltskin came back for milah. and, finding that she had left him on purpose, slaughtered her and stole not only killian's hand; but his only daughter. effectively robbing killian of the last remaining pieces of milah, the dark one fled and began to raise janette as his own child.
when the curse arrived to storybrooke, janette was sixteen. her new alias became cassandra rose gold; coincidentally mr. gold's (rumplestiltskin) daughter. she worked in the pawn shop with him, and appeared to be as happy as ever.
however, killian, now captain hook, did not go back with the curse, and was separated even further from his daughter. he swore total vengeance against rumplestiltskin to retrieve his daughter.
