After staying inside for a couple of hours, it became dark. I heard a knock at the cabin door, who could be up at this time?. I quickly wiped my eyes and opened it, it was Troy, he looked at me with that same grin that was always plastered onto his face. "How can I help you?" I asked him curiously. He gave me a look after seeing that I had been upset, "cheer up anxiety girl, I have an offer that you might like" he said softly. "And what might that be?" I questioned him. "Well I was thinking you could move your things into the cabin where most of the militia men are, you've earned it" he reassured. I gave him a look, why was he being nice to me?, I don't get it but whatever. "You know what...I accept" I said without giving it any second thought, "great, the guys and I have something planned when you get there, you'll meet everyone on our team," he said, I nodded.

I started packing my things into a box and the rest into my bag, I didn't have much but it will do, I lifted the box as Troy came into the room "here let me help you with that" he said taking the box, "thanks" I replied. I grabbed my bag and tossed it over my shoulder, "Alright let's go" Troy spoke in a tone that was built from excitement, maybe he wasn't so bad after all.

We walked down to the other side of the ranch where a luxurious cabin stood, it had to be seven times bigger than the one I was staying in before, it kinda reminded me of the house I left behind in L.A., Troy had opened the door to the large cabin making all of the chatter that was going on amongst the members of the militia stop. "Guys, I'd like you all to meet Victoria Strand, she's a fierce fighter and therefore the newest member of our team" he spoke out placing my box onto an empty bed and walking back over, and putting his arm around me. One of the guys sitting off in the corner spoke up "it's about damn time that we have a woman in here! welcome to the family Victoria!" He exclaimed with a smile, huh I was already valued around here, that was nice to know.

The rest of the night went great, sharing experiences, drinking beer, and ultimately having a great laugh, I could definitely get used to this, having many people that support me more than I could ever support myself. After a while the majority of us got drunk off our asses and fell asleep, after having a good end to the night I could sleep better than I've ever had.

I woke up the next morning, I felt refreshed after actually getting sleep, I got up from my bed and got into the shower. after changing into fresh clothes and brushing my hair I went outside to get breakfast. Alicia had seen me coming toward the breakfast bar, she stopped me "hey, where did all your stuff go last night, when my mom and I got back none of your things were there, we thought you left" she rambled, "you didn't hear? I got moved into the militia cabin, I'm on the team now" I replied. She looked at me, her eyes had lost their light "if this is about Nick, I can talk to him" she said. I shook my head "this isn't about him, Jake and Troy said they could use me over there so I agreed to join" I explained to her. She nodded "just be careful, alright?". "Alright" I repeated and went to get breakfast.

After getting a plate of mixed foods, I sat down next to Madison, Nick was sitting next to Alicia on the opposite side of the table. "So, Alicia told me that you joined the militia, how did your first night go?" Madison asked me, at that moment you were to think that Nick was gonna choke on his own tongue, he gave me a 'what the hell we're you thinking?' look, I smiled softly at Madison "it was great actually, they're all good people" I replied softly. "Well at least you're safe, we were worried about you last night" she said pulling me into a hug, I accepted the embrace hugging her back, out of the corner of my eye I could see Nick was pissed off.

After breakfast had ended, had got up from the table to go start my duties as a militia woman, Nick followed behind me, he grabbed a hold of my arm and, pulled me aside, I looked at him, his expression was pissed off beyond return. "What?" Asked him, he shook his head "really?, you're doing this to prove a point Vick?", I rolled my eyes "not everything is about you Nick, I'm doing this for my sanity, what do you care anyway?, so what nothing ever happens on the militia runs" I said. "Remember back in Mexico with Chris?" He asked, "yeah, why?" I responded, "he knew you well and he stabbed you in the stomach with a cooking knife! imagine what someone who doesn't know you at all would do!" He shouted "oh give it a rest Nick, Chris was a psycho we all knew that" I reminded him, He shook his head "this is dangerous" I sighed "I know, I just need something to put my time and effort into, I don't have anything anymore!!" I shouted and walked off, this time he didn't follow.

I walked back to the cabin to get my gear, I slide on my uniform and went to the armory to get my gun. For once I looked like I belonged somewhere, my hair was in a neat, tight bun as I walked down to the armory where Troy was waiting for me, he had an AK47 and a pistol with two extra clips set aside. I approached him with a soft smile. "Good morning," I said softly, "Good morning, anxiety girl." he smiled, I smiled back at him "so that's what we call me now huh?', I asked, "well yeah" he responded, I chuckled. He gave me my weapons and I went to walk away. "Hey Victoria?" Troy asked me, "yeah?" I replied, "it's good to have you on the team", I smiled "it's good to be on the team"I said happily.

An hour had passed, the team was ready to go out and search once again for who shot the helicopter down, and not to mention Travis's body. We all loaded into the truck, our guns were loaded, I looked back as the truck started driving away. I could see Nick against the gate. he shook his head at me, I looked away and at Troy who had gently put a hand on my shoulder "he'll get over it" he assured me, I nodded as he looked over at me once again "what is it with you two anyway?, lover thing??" He asked. I sighed "he knew I had feelings for him, then he was separated from the rest of our group and met his 'girlfriend', I didn't take that very well, first love and all, shit", Troy smiled "first love uh?" He questioned "my dad kept me in the house for along time, I wasn't aloud to date...sounds pathetic I know..." I explained, he shook his head "not pathetic but what makes now, different then before?" "My father met the Clark family in a facility thing, brought them back to our home, when you're around someone long enough.... feelings just sort of happened and my dad couldn't do anything about it" I explained again "that's fair" he simply said and put his arm around me "don't Worry, you'll find a way to get back at him...maybe make him jealous". That's when the idea popped into my head, Nick wasn't fond of Troy at all, I however didn't mind him. "Do you want to help me?" I asked, his face lit up even more than before "uh yeah" he said smirking "finally something I don't mind doing!", I chuckled "great we can start when we get back" I said softly.

Hours of searching past, sadly we didn't find anything and decided to head back for the night, I hated coming back to Madison with nothing, that woman was like a mother to me and I wanted her to have some closure for Travis. We all piled back into the truck getting ready to head back to the ranch. Night fall had approached quickly. I walked behind Troy as he got into the truck and reached his hand out to me, I took his hand and he helped me onto the truck, we sat next to each other.I glanced around as the truck began to roll, Troy was visibly pissed off, "you okay?" I asked him, he looked over at me "just pissed that we didn't find anything" he replied, "I know, I'm sorry" I said looking down, "Don't be, the world has to keep turning right?" He said putting a hand on my shoulder and giving a small smile, he was as big of an asshole as everyone thought a little crazy maybe but he was alright in my book.

It was gonna take a few hours to get back to the ranch, we all knew that so Troy decided to start up a conversation "do you plan on staying?, you know at the ranch, or are you leaving like some of the others say they're going to?" "I need to find my dad, but until I find him I need somewhere relatively safe"  I admitted, "Good, I like your attitude, you live with a passion and I admire that" he gave me a small smile. We continued talking the whole ride back which took a long while.
