Camryn
"...and sixteen year old Camryn Rossi, sister of AFL star Joshua Rossi, was seen risking her life-"
I turn off the tv.
"This is the hundredth time I've heard the same half-truth of a story, it hasn't even been twenty four hours" I groan, turning back to my breakfast. "I wasn't risking my life I was just helping that girls- ugh!" I slam my toast down and storm up to my room.
I throw myself onto my bed, grab my phone and open instagram.

Is this what it's like for Josh? I feel bad for him. I don't want all this stupid attention, someone fucking died and all the media can talk about is me.
I turn on Netflix to try and distract myself.
Just then I heard the sound of my bedroom door open and close.
"Y'know princess, what you did was really brave, and you should allow yourself to have a little praise." My dad said sitting down on my bed and stroking my hair.
"I know, but people died papa. Lives ended. And I'm getting all the media attention? It's unfair to the victims and their families." I replied, sadness and frustration lacing my tone.
"I agree with you, just don't beat yourself up about it, okay? You can't control who or what they decide to make stories out of."
I nodded.
He leaned over, kissing my hair before leaving my room.
I took my dad for granted. I knew that, there was a lot more I took for granted than just him. My life, my friends, my family, the fact we don't have to eat a frozen pizza over two nights. I am so grateful for the life I've been blessed with, the family I was born into.
My dad was like my best friend. Always there for me, whether it was giving advice, teaching me how to cook, or setting me straight when I was in the wrong. I'm lucky to have him.
My mum too. She was always willing to drop me off hen I needed a ride, she's there in a heartbeat when anything goes down at school, and by my side when I need a shoulder to cry on.
And Josh and the twins. I could imagine if it had been London in the water and someone else had chosen not to save her. Or Josh that had gotten attacked by the shark.
I pulled myself out of my thoughts, tears forming in my eyes. I couldn't think about that. Not now, not ever.

"Have fun sweetie, be back home by one tomorrow okay?" My mum called from the car window.
"I will, love you!" I called back, grabbing my backpack and walking to Kayla's front doorstep.
I rung the bell as I reached the door and just before it opened Jessie smiled, reaching my side.
Kayla had a nice house. It was double-story with a pool and large backyard and a stone path that lead around the sides of the house, connecting to the driveway. There were many trees and flower bushes around the front, implying that the house was taken care of, which it most definitely was.
