Chapter 6-
Lacey’s POV
Two weeks had passed since my accident, though I still got a headache sometimes. So much happened in the few days I missed of school; Kai and Payton hooked up at a party and started dating, one of our least favorite teacher’s husbands left her, and we go a new guy in our grade.
See what happens when I miss three days? I miss all the fun! It really isn’t fair.
But I swear if some idiot asks me what I did to my eye again, I’m saying I got in a chick fight to make them go away. It still hadn’t healed all the way, and there’s only so much covering concealer can do.
I honestly didn’t think Kai and Payton were legitimately dating. They hung out and stuff, but never actually went on dates. I know that sounds stalkerish, but I would know by the way the chick posts everything on Facebook. If anything, they’re more of a friends-with-benefits thing.
After school one Friday, Amelia and I were hanging out in my room when I got a text from a number I didn’t know.
I’m having a pool party tomorrow at my house. You and Amelia should come. –Kai
How did you get my number? I responded before showing the text to my best friend. She frowned at it, thinking the same thing I was – why was he doing this? After meeting Payton, Kai had pretty much ignored me, except for the whole pretty voice incident – which I would very much like to forget.
I have ways…and access to peoples’ phones… J -Kai
That’s really stalkerish. Why should I come to your party anyway? Don’t you have a girlfriend? – Lace
I just feel the need to thank the person that helped me out on my first day – Kai
“He’s up to something,” I tell Amelia, handing over my phone. She reads over the short conversation, nodding in agreement.
“Totes. We should go,” She grins at me, tossing the phone back. I raise an eyebrow at her, motioning for her to go on. “I wanna know what it is! And I really want Lincoln to see me in a bikini so he can know exactly what he messed up on!”
I shake my head at her, typing on my phone.
Okay. When and where is your house? – Lace
Kai texted back almost immediately, giving me an address and time. I walk into the bathroom, Amelia following. I lift up my shirt a little to expose my tanned stomach, thanks to many hours in the sunshine beside my pool.
