"Took you long enough."

"Shut up Parker, you're lucky I even came."

He laughed, stepping into the moonlight. God damn, did he get cuter since the last time I had seen him?

"I really am glad you came to meet me, though," he said, smiling softly.

"This isn't some ploy to get me by myself so you can murder me, is it?" I asked.

"What, no, of course not," he replied.

"Oh, good, cause that would have really ruined my day," I smiled.

"I don't understand you," he said, as we both sat down on a bench.

"And why's that?" I raised an eyebrow.

"You have such a rough 'bad guy' exterior," he started. "But you're always laughing and making jokes. You're actually a pretty nice guy."

"Oh God," I rolled my eyes, miming a gagging motion. "Please don't ever say that about me ever again."

"I thought that was a compliment," he frowned.

"Being a 'nice guy' is never a compliment, Parker. Not for me."

"See," he laughed. "This is what I'm talking about! This is what I don't understand! Being nice would be a compliment for anybody. But it disgusts you."

"Because I'm not nice. I never have been, never wanted to be," I answered.

"I don't believe that," he smiled at me.

"What?"

"I don't believe you're not nice. Can you be an asshole sometimes? Sure. Do you attempt to portray yourself as rough and mean so nobody can see what you're really like? Seems like it. You wanna know what my guess is?" He asked.

"What's your guess?" I asked.

"My guess is that you don't want people to see the real you, because you're afraid you'll get hurt. I think you're protecting yourself."

I stared at him for a moment, my mouth hanging open. "You've known me for two days," I finally said. "And you have this many opinions on me?"

He shrugged, blushing. "Yeah."

"Wow," I said.

"Do you have any opinions on me?" He asked slowly.

"Maybe," I smiled mysteriously.

"What are they?"

"Oh, no kid, you're not getting anything out of me this quickly."

"Come on, I spilled all my inner thoughts to you," he smiled goofily.

"And that was your own choice. I choose not to tell you anything yet," I smirked.

"Yet?" He asked. "So you do plan on telling me?"

"I don't plan on telling you anything," I said. "Did you just drag me all the way out here so you could insult me and then pester me with questions?"

"I didn't mean to insult you," his smile fell. "I'm sorry."

"Relax," I laughed. "Do you always take everything so seriously?"

He looked at me, looking like he was trying to say something, but couldn't figure out what to say. "Come on," I grabbed his arm and pulled him off the bench. "Let's take a walk. You can tell me more about what it's like to be a Queen's boy."

"Oh, please. Queen's isn't that bad," he laughed.

"Sure, you're only saying that 'cause you live there."

"Alright, tough guy, where do you live? You're so quick to bash Queen's, but won't even tell me where you're from. How bad is it?"

"Manhattan," I smirked.

"No fucking way," he said.

"What?" I asked.

"You just had to live in Manhattan, the one place I can't say anything bad about!"

"I'm so sorry kid, this just ruins your day, doesn't it?"

"Yes, actually," he joked. "I don't even know if I can finish this walk with you."

"Well, I understand, but I am deeply heartbroken," I sighed.

"Well," he also sighed. "I guess I'll just have to finish this walk with you, and be completely miserable the whole time."

"Oh, I wouldn't want you to be miserable," I said to him.

"Don't worry," a small smile appeared on his face. "I could never be miserable around you."

I turned away from him, desperately trying to hide the blush making it's way across my face. "That's a pretty deep thing to say to somebody you've only known two days."

"Well it's true! I may have only known you for two days, but I know we're gonna be close," he said.

"Really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yup," he nodded. "And besides, you came all the way out here because I told you I needed somebody to talk to. Nobody's ever done something like that for me."

"I may be a cold-hearted asshole, but I'm not a monster," I shrugged. "What did you need to talk about, is everything okay?"

"Yeah, everything's alright, I guess," he frowned.

"You guess? That doesn't sound very promising," I said.

"Don't worry about it. I shouldn't drag you into my problems," he said softly.

"Hey," I lightly bumped my body into his, making him giggle. "I came here because I wanted to hear your problems. Trust me kid, if I didn't want to hear about it, I wouldn't have come."

"You sure?" He asked, and I nodded. "Okay," he took a deep breath. "There's all this responsibility surrounding me, and I have no idea how to handle it. I'm supposed to be there for my aunt and be the man of the house, and then I have to be there for my friends, and make sure they're doing okay. I also have school and my job, which takes up almost all of my free time and I'm just having a lot of trouble juggling it all."

"Don't beat yourself up," I said. "Everybody faces responsibility. You're going through a lot right now."

"Yeah," he looked down.

"It'll all ease up. Don't worry yourself about it. Yeah, you're struggling right now, but you won't be struggling forever. One day you're going to look back on all of this, and be so proud of yourself for handling it all" I said to him. I was never the best at pep talks, but I was hoping I could help him feel a little better at least.

"Thanks, Oliver," he said, smiling lightly. "You've really made me feel better."

"No, problem Parker," I smirked.

"It's getting late," he said, looking down at his watch. "I should probably get home before my aunt starts to worry."

"Aw is it past your bedtime?" I taunted.

"Shut up," he rolled his eyes playfully.

"Goodnight, Parker," I let a small smile make an appearance before I watched him run through the park. The smile on my face grew larger as I watched him disappear. God, what was he doing to me?
