Chapter 6: Rescuing Adabelle and Nicky

It was getting stormy as Phillippe was attached to the sleigh that was being pulled by him with Adabelle and Nicky who were snuggled up in a blanket. Phillippe was whinnying as he even nickers. The sounds of wolves howling were coming from anywhere part of the woods. Landon, on the other hand, who was holding onto the leg of the sleigh while whimpering. The wolves were barking and howling including growling. "There. That's it! That's it!" Nicky said very cheerfully. "Oh, Nicky, it's perfect." Adabelle said to him. The only way to get across to where the perfect tree is going over sheer thin ice. Phillippe slowly went down the small edge as he slid down. Adabelle was gasping as she and Nicky were bracing impact while Phillippe whinnies.

A few yards away from where Adabelle, Nicky and Phillippe are at. MC was looking for her as he used his candlestick-like arm to look for the tracks and hoofprints...but the snowflakes were slowly covering them. "Do you see her?" Ghost asked. MC rolled his eyes. "Not yet. Now, come along. Hurry!" He said.

Ghost was slowly climbing up the hill panting. "You go on. I'll never make it." He said. MC sighs. Ghost was coughing and panting. "Save yourself." He said. "Ah, it will be summer before we reach them." MC said as he hop over towards Ghost and went behind him. "What the..." Ghost said. MC pushed Ghost as he used him as a snowboard. "Whoa!" Ghost said. "Hold on!" MC said. 

"Oh, dear!" Ghost said as he was falling with MC on his back. He grunts. MC was speaking in French that sounded like 'Allez! Allez!' He laughs. "Faster! Faster!" He said. MC kept riding on Ghost's back as he was the snowboard and MC was the rider. "I think we finally found a use for you. Clock boarding! No, snow clocking! Whatever!" He said.

He jump over the fallen tree while Ghost was sliding underneath it. The duo kept going through the snow as Ghost was being a snowboard. "Ha, ha! Whoo!" MC said. The orange-yellow candlestick laughs as he was enjoying it. "Whoa!" He said as he laughs. He and Ghost went over the edge of the cliff.

Meanwhile with Adabelle, Nicky, Phillippe, Jaxon and Landon as they were standing in front of the tallest tree. "It's the best tree ever!" Nicky said with glee. "Nicky, you're right." Adabelle said as she held Jaxon in her hand while keeping her jacket closed in her other hand. "Merry Christmas! And a happy Hanukkah!" Jaxon said. "We better hurry. It's getting very stormy." Adabelle said. She took a couple of swings. "Oy! Oy!" Jaxon said. Adabelle hit the tree again. 

"Again with the chopping." Jaxon said. Landon was nearby the sleigh and Phillippe as he was hidden behind the legs. "Oh, I gotta do something. Forte's counting on me." Landon said. Phillippe whinnying. Landon hopped onto the hook that is attached to the sleigh and Phillippe. The sound of the creaking of the tree was slowly falling down to the ground.

"Timber!" Nicky said while giggling. Back with Landon grunts as he was pulling on the latch to separate the sleigh from Phillippe...or maybe make it come loose. He wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Phew!" He said. As for Adabelle who was tying the rope to the sleigh and to the tree. Nicky was laughing. "Take it away, Phillippe!" She said to her trusty horse. Phillippe whinnies. 

"Whoo!" Landon said. Adabelle pick up Jaxon and Nicky as she ran towards the sleigh. Jaxon hopped into the sleigh as Adabelle jumped into the sleigh. Landon fell into the snow. "Whoa!" He said. He hopped as fast as he can towards Adabelle, the sleigh and the others as he whimpers. He continues whimpering while trying to hold onto the sleigh.

"Oh, no!" He said as he held onto the sleigh while being dragged through the snow. He was grunting as well while whimpering. Phillippe was taking his sweet time, trying to get across the icy lake without breaking the ice, letting Adabelle, Nicky and Jaxon fell into the cold water with sleigh or lose the tree.

The bottom part of the sleigh tip downwards as Landon slid down it. "Aah! Aah! Aaah!" He said as he was sliding across the ice, trying to get his balance back. "Landon?" Adabelle asked as she stood up. He chuckles nervously. "Uh, hi, Adabelle. Uh, nice tree." He said. Phillippe snorts. 

"What are you doing way out here?" She asked. "Uh, nothin'. I just was, uh, walkin'. I mean, uh, I love the bitter cold." Landon said. He was telling a lie to Adabelle and the others about the real reason that he's out here in the cold.

"Hee-hee! I mean, uh..." He said as he toots. The high pinched toot caused Phillippe shrieks. He tried to catch his cap as he blows. Phillippe shrieks as he raise his hooves up which it caused enough to break the ice. The ice broke into three big pieces and then there were smaller pieces.

Phillippe was whinnying. Both MC and Ghost were getting closer to Adabelle, Nicky and the others' location. "Phillippe!" She said. Adabelle, Nicky and Jaxon were separated from Phillippe. 

"Oh, no!" Adabelle said as she looks around the area. Phillippe snorts. Nicky and Adabelle look back at the tree as they noticed the rope was starting to break one by one until it was down to the last one. "The tree, Adabelle! We're gonna lose the tree!" Nicky cried. The rope snapped as Nicky fell into the water.

"Whoa!" He yelled. "Nicky! Oh!" She said. She took Jaxon as they were looking for Nicky. "Where is he?" She asked. As for Landon who was trying to stay on the ice but the ice tip backwards as he landed in the water. "Whoa! Whoa!" He said.

Meanwhile in the freezing cold water as Nicky was floating along with the tree. "Help! Help!" He muffled/yelled. Adabelle and Jaxon waited until the ice came closed to the others. She had Jaxon to break the ice. She reached into the water trying for Nicky. "Oh!" She said as she slipped into the water.

Landon was swimming to the shore while whimpering. MC and Ghost were hopping across the ice to get where Landon and Jaxon are at while looking for Adabelle and Nicky. "Hold on cherie! I will save you!" MC said. "Oh, dear!" Ghost said. Landon was hopping around on the ice looking for Adabelle and Nicky.

"Oh, no. Oh, gosh. Oh, no." He said. MC and the others split up to look for their friends. "Oh, no!" Landon said as he hop on the ice. He saw Adabelle floating towards the ice as he was blowing his whistle to alert the others. Jaxon and the other two came over to Landon. 

"Oy, oy, oy!" Jaxon said as he took a swung at the ice enough to break it. Adabelle came up to the surface as she held Nicky in her hand as she gasps for air. Nicky was coughing. "Oh, Nicky, thank goodness you're safe." She said. Nicky spits out the water. "I wasn't scared." He said. What the group didn't know is that the rope was still tied to the tree as the rope slowly wrapped around Adabelle's leg. She gasps as the tree was dragging her back into the freezing cold water. 

"Oh, no! No!" Adabelle cried. Nicky used his teeth to grabbed Adabelle's glove with the help from MC and Ghost as they were grunting. Adabelle's hand slipped out of her glove as the trio fell backwards. Adabelle was in the water with the rope around her leg and tree. Right on cue, Tygra showed up as he was growling. He jumped into the water to rescue Adabelle. 

A few minutes later, after getting the rope off her leg as Tygra reappeared to the surface while growling. The group heard the footsteps. "Adabelle!" Nicky said excitedly. MC took a couple of glances between their master who is carrying Adabelle in his arms and Nicky. He gasps as he quickly grabbed Nicky and held him in his arms. Landon's eyes went widen when he saw their master, Adabelle and Phillippe walking back to the castle. "Oh, no, what have I done?" He asked. He put his hands over his eyes. "It's all my fault." He said sadly. MC stood next to him. "We all share some blame, mon ami, for daring to hope for a Christmas." He said. The others began to walked or hopped back to the castle.
