mingyu taps his foot on the floor impatiently, staring at the door until his sister comes home.
"3, 2, 1," and as he finishes counting down, the door opens and yerim enters.
"hi op-pa?" her smile eventually goes away when seeing her brother's hard stare. "um, did something happen to you...?"
"i don't know," he starts with a sarcastic tone. "how do you think i feel when i hear that my best friend has a secret admirer who's been sending him letters for the past few days and i found out that it's my own little sister? who, by the way, didn't even tell me about this?"
"i c-can explain," yerim is internally panicking inside. this was the last thing she wanted to happen because there were two reactions she would receive. one, he would tease her to the ends of the earth or two, give her a big lecture on why she shouldn't be thinking about boyfriends and how boys are crap (except for him that is).
"then go ahead. explain to me why jungkook also knows about this but i, your own brother, didn't."
"jungkook oppa is the one who found out about my crush. this was last summer, when you and jaehyun were attending basketball camp," yerim twirls the ends of her hairs, a habit she does when nervous. "he just knew because whenever it'd be you and him hanging out, i'd always come out to say hi. but whenever jaehyun's involved, i'd always have an excuse to not come out or go somewhere before."
"and how did that lead to you sending those letters?" mingyu raises an eyebrow.
"because i wanted to make a move, now that i'm in high school," his sister answers earnestly. "the thought of him knowing, let alone liking, me is so far-fetched. but still, i didn't want him to feel burdened so i thought hiding my identity would be the best idea."
she closes her eyes and braces herself for the scolding but is just met with silence. she opens her eyes and looks at her brother, who's blank stare quickly morphs into a laughing expression.
"kim yerim, you idiot," he says while laughing. "to be honest, i knew it was you even before seeing your handwriting."
"what?!" she yells out loud. "how?! they weren't even under my real name!"
"they were under squirtle, and who gave you that nickname?" mingyu points to himself. "on top of that, the hints were so obvious. if you didn't want him to know who you are, then why'd you give them?"
"shut up!" yerim slaps the male's shoulder and tries to hide her blushing cheeks. "but aren't you disappointed or something?"
"why would i be?" he asks with a serious tone. "i'm ok with you liking jaehyun; he's a nice dude and if you guys did end up together..."
mingyu gives the teasing up-and-down eyebrows and yerim shoves him away from her.
"but really, i trust him for you. but if it was jungkook, then i'd be against it so much," he gives a disgusted face.
"you're so mean to kookie oppa," she laughs but stops at a realization. "wait, when'd you see the letters? jungkook oppa said you didn't see them at school."
"i went over to jaehyun's house yesterday evening to work on a project. he was looking at them with a lot of thought," mingyu nudges his sister's arm and laughs even more when seeing her cheeks turn even redder. "jeez, you look like a tomato. and your face is as round as one."
"you're so done," yerim grabs a cushion from the sofa they were sitting on and starts to whack her brother with it, ignoring his shouts.
"yah, kim yerim!"
"that hurts! put that weapon down!!"
"i'm older than you, have some respect!"
"ack!! not the hair!! help!!!"
