This story follows the journey of a dragon who is arrogant, self-centered, and distrusting. He believes himself to be superior to others and shows little care for their feelings or well-being. Very few dragons have been able to connect with him, but he tries to keep his guard up at all times. But what led him to become this way? Let me take you back to the beginning of his life and share his Story.
His family were the proud rulers of Tertara, they had their home in a vast and lush forest teeming with wildlife. Their throne was a massive, sloped rock, towering over the dense foliage and offering a commanding view of their domain. For generations, Rio's family had led with wisdom and compassion, ensuring peace and prosperity for all the creatures living within their borders. Now it was time for a new generation to grow up who would later take over the throne and lead and protect the Land in the name of their parents, at least that's what Rio's parents hoped for. His mother was expecting and nearing the time to lay her eggs. However, their idyllic existence was soon threatened by a new enemy that emerged from the shadow lands, determined to seize control of their land, and destroy everything they held dear.
One fateful day, the banished beasts emerged from the depths of the black ravine in the shadow lands. Towering and fearsome, they breathed fire and sought revenge against the idyllic world of the royals. Their nefarious plan was to slaughter the entire clan and seize control of Tertara for themselves. For years, they plotted and prepared, reproducing and training in secret to increase their odds of victory against the wise and powerful leaders they aimed to overthrow.
As the banished horde of hundreds flew towards the royals' home, the leaders realized they were hopelessly outnumbered and chose to flee, abandoning their beloved throne, and seeking refuge elsewhere.
Rio's family fled their home in fear that the exiles would come to kill their descendants. They knew their Plasma wouldn't hurt them much, so there was no point in fighting. They fled to the holy mountain "the Guardian". It was remote and at the top there was a small lake and plenty of food, many trees by which they were sheltered. They waited a few days in the shade of the trees to be sure no one followed them. When they hadn't seen anyone for days, they came out and made themselves comfortable. Rio's mother began to build her nest. His father often flew away with other hunters to get fresh bugs, these were very nutritious and that's what Rio's mother needed after she would lay the eggs.
One fateful night, the time had finally arrived. Rio's mother made her way to the nest and settled in, while his father dutifully provided her with water to keep her cool and nourishing food. In the end, she laid three eggs, one of which was slightly smaller but nonetheless healthy. Together, they carefully arranged the eggs in the nest and kept them warm. As Rio's father began to drift off to sleep, his mother gazed up at the dazzling night sky and prayed for the safety and well-being of her offspring.
Days passed quickly, and one morning, Rio's mother woke up to find that his father had already gone hunting. As she shifted in the nest, she felt something move beneath her - two of her eggs had already hatched, and the tiny dragon cubs were looking at her with sleepy eyes, covered in goo. She lovingly cleaned and cared for them. In moments of rest, she carefully removed the eggshells from the nest, wondering when the last one would hatch.
In the dead of night, Rio's mother jolted awake, her eyes wide with fear as heavy footsteps approached. Quickly, she gathered her children and concealed them in a nearby bush along with their nest. Running to her mate, she found him already dead with a big burn on his body. Rushing back to the other members, she discovered all the elders had been slain too. She realized it was an ambush and froze in terror as a sinister shadow, with glowing eyes, emerged from the darkness. With a deep, raspy voice, the shadow mocked her panic: "Oh no, they're all dead." He laughed. "Did you really thought you could escape us?"
. Out of nowhere, flames erupted all around Rio's mother, engulfing her in the merciless heat of the banished ones. With no escape in sight, she thought of her children and wondered if they would survive without her. Tears streaming down her face, she closed her eyes and lay down, sacrificing herself to protect her offspring. The exiles, unaware of her little ones, believed they had eliminated the last of the royal clan and burned everything to the ground. Satisfied with their victory, they flew off to report to the other dragons that they were now in power.
