"The first selection will be held in a round-robin style amongst the five teams in building five. Only the top two teams will move on to the second selection in this survival match, and the rest will be eliminated, forever ineligible for the national team."

"A team made up of only strikers huh?" Chigiri commented.

"That does seem challenging." Iemon agreed.

"How about you be goalie? You have the face of one." Naruhaya said to him.

"Why me? I would like to kick the ball too."

"We'll figure all of this out later." Kuon stepped in.

"Hey plebeians, don't get so caught up in this notion of positions. Defense positions for example, were only created as tactics to stop an seemingly unstoppable force. Become that unstoppable force and the rest will fall into place." Ego interjected.

'Become that unstoppable force huh?'

"However, there are two special things about this round robin. Top scorers from the three losing teams will advance to the next selection. Also, additional points will be added to teams where every member manages to score a point across the four games."

"So there's different ways for this game to be played. Theres a number of strategies we could use." Isagi thought out loud.

"That's strange, it puts a weighted advantage on self scores." I added. "Hey Ego, how many points will be rewarded for every person scoring?"

"Five points will be added at the very end. Essentially, it would guarantee your spot to the second selection if you can manage to pull it off." Ego smirked.

'Not only is that 11 points in total, but 5 additional points across 4 games. That's at least 3 goals each game. At that point, wouldn't we be winning every game? What's the point of this extra rule?'

"How is that fair at all? The teams aren't built equally. Won't team V have a much easier time getting all members to score than our team Z?" Igarashi asked.

"Listen up you unrefined alkaline earth metals. If every person on your team can score a goal, then every person on the team deserves to move on to the second selection. Whether that's your team or not doesn't matter to me." Ego started. "Create soccer from zero with your brains, and abandon what you think is common sense and shove new notions into your brain. What will you prioritize? This is a battle about turning that zero into a one. You have 24 hours until the first match against team X."

A timer appeared on the screen, ticking down the seconds as they passed.

"I was hoping we'd have a little bit more of a break." Naruhaya whined.

"Let's not wait until the last minute. We'll have a strategy meeting later tonight before bed to decided which way we'll try to win. We shouldn't neglect our training either." Iemon announced.

"Iemon's right. If everyone on our team needs to score, then we need to prioritize the people who have more trouble getting goals." Kuon agreed.

"Why should we focus on the people who are incompetent huh? Ego also said we get points if we win. Just keep passing to me and let me score." Raichi argued.

"Thats no fair! If we lose, you'll move on to the next phase, and we'll all be locked off." Igarashi complained.

"Maybe you should be locked off if you're ranked lower than a girl." Naruhaya smirked.

"Hey! I worked hard to move up. It has nothing to do with me being a girl." I asserted.

"Or maybe baldy-chan sold because he has a crush~" Naruhaya continued.
