With five shots of vodka pumping through her system, Kendall was confident enough to raise her arms above her head and move her hips to the beat of the music.
Kai was keeping a respectful distance, dancing with a contented smile on his face. Kendall however, was too tipsy to be satisfied with a respectful distance.
She moved closer, took his hands and placed them on her hips. They were now so close their chests brushed one against the other as they danced. She continued with the seductive movements of her hips and Kai looked as smug as a bug in a rug.
He appeared to be looking at someone behind her, so she swivelled round, dancing with her back against his front, his hands still firmly on her hips.
She noticed then, who he had been looking at. Daniel was standing by the door to the kitchen holding a red solo cup. Blake was talking in his ear but Daniel didn't seem to be listening. His eyes were trained on her and every movement of her body.
He was watching coldly, his jaw clenched so tight she could see the veins bulging in his neck. She wasn't sure why, but she liked it. She convinced herself he was being like that because of her, and that made her heart thump in her ears.
To add fuel to the fire, she lifted her arms above her head and behind her, running her fingers through Kai's hair and down to his neck, pulling his head closer on her shoulder.
Daniel's jaw clicked as his hands clenched into fists; he stared at her warningly. She responded with the biggest shit-eating grin ever and continued dancing confidently.
Daniel gulped down his drink, and scrunching up the cup, dropping it to the ground.
He stormed towards Kendall as Kai chuckled behind her. "Show time," he mumbled.
Daniel shoved Kai's arms away from Kendall's hips and dragged by her wrists into the kitchen
He let go and reached into the fridge for a beer.
She huffed. "What the hell was that about? Is there a reason you dragged me in here? I was a bit busy you know."
He popped the top off the beer and took a large gulp. Then, sighing, he turned casually and looked at her, just as though he hadn't been behaving like a raging maniac just moments before.
"Thought you might be done dancing for the night," he said nonchalantly.
Kendall narrowed her eyes as he took another swig of beer.
"What does that even mean? I was enjoying myself." She stamped her foot.
"Yeah, maybe a little too much," he said darkly, and downed the rest of the beer.
Before she could snap back, he opened the fridge, putting the door between him and her and began rummaging for another beer. But it wasn't easy; the fridge was stacked in a way that taking one item would have caused the lot to spill out.
Kendall spun round as she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was one of the guys from the football team, grinning at her with two cups in his hands.
"Hey, I don't think I've ever really introduced myself, I'm Brad," he said.
Kendall, taken aback by the sudden interaction, turned to see if the fridge door was still open. It was. Daniel couldn't see the pair of them.
She turned back and offered a half smile. "Hi Brad, I'm Kendall."
He laughed. "I know who you are. Here, I got you a drink." He thrust a cup towards her.
She looked down at it and smiled apologetically. "I'm okay, thanks."
