I rap my fists against her door, waiting for any signal that she was awake, entering when I was enveloped in nothing but silence. I take gentle, slow steps towards her, careful not to make too much noise to wake her up, watching her still figure lying on the bed, her chest rising in even breaths. She turns her head to face me, almost willing herself to get up to stop me from going any further, but her hand drops to her side, as her eyes train on my own. I continue my journey towards her, my knees eventually hitting the edge of her bed.

I look down on her, taking in her ragged state, noticing how she still managed to look beautiful, knowing that she'd deny it if she saw herself. My eyes remain on her face for a few seconds, as my hands levitate towards her face, taking a hold of her soft cheek. I feel her lean into my grasp, as my thumbs begin to draw circles on the cheek of her face, her eyes closing with dreariness. She finds comfort in my warm grasp, letting herself come to terms with peace and falling asleep with my hand still firm on her cheek.

I remain for a second, before looking away, knowing what was to come in the matter of a mere 24 hours. I myself couldn't come to terms with what I was to do to her, yet I still couldn't stop myself from having to do it. I look to my side before turning to leave, watching innocence paint her face, but my thoughts begin to flood with memories of what she had done, helping to put my conscience at ease. I make my way out of her room, closing the door carefully behind me, making sure not to wake her. I remain there, leaning back on the now closed door, resting my head against it, feeling the nerves overcome me. I could only pray to the Lord for his help now, and beg and hope that whatever would be the outcome, it would be in my favour. I only had one chance, and I was not letting anything get in the way of me taking it.
