I slowly made my way into the dark house, doing the best I could in my inebriated state to dodge all the obstacles, or furniture, that stood in my way.

I went on a girls night out, which I usually never do, and had a few too many espresso martinis. Even though I don't even like coffee.

Regardless, the combination of caffeine and alcohol had me feeling all sorts of wonky.

When I finally reached the stairs I made the executive decision to crawl up them.

Well, not really. I didn't have much of a choice, the room was spinning pretty badly and my limbs were beginning to feel so heavy.

When I eventually reached the top of the stairs I started hearing my boyfriends booming voice from down the hallway. He was saying something that I couldn't quite make out but I could tell he was talking to someone, which meant he must've been streaming.

I pulled myself up to my feet and shuffled into the bedroom, grabbing Jay's hoodie that said
'Michigan' on it and a pair of pajama shorts before entering the bathroom to change and wash my face.

The cool water felt nice on my face, but failed to sober me up. With my jammies on, I grabbed a bag of pretzels from my nightstand, I always need a late night snack available, and made my way to Jay's office to let him know I was home.

Walking down the hallway, that suddenly felt miles long, I could still hear him talking to someone. As quietly as I could, I pushed his office door open and stood silently in the doorway, hoping that would be enough to gain his attention. But, of course it was not.

I stuffed 2 pretzels in my mouth and then impulsively threw one at him, hitting him square in the forehead.

He quickly looked to me, leaning against the doorway for support, and did his best to hide his smile.

"Hey guys, I'm gonna take a real quick bathroom break but I will be right back!" He said loudly before poking some buttons on his computer then turning to me in he chair leaning back as far as he could and giving me his full attention clearly amused.

"You look like you had a fun night," he laughed before picking the pretzel up out of his lap and popping it in his mouth.

I giggled at him and nodded my head. He grinned and mumbled a 'Come here," as he scooted his office chair backwards.

I hurried over to him, spilling a few pretzels on the way, and wiggled my way onto his lap. Feeling entirely content in this moment.

Schlatt had always been this way with me. He was much softer and gentler than his videos ever portrayed him to be. I mean there were times when he could be his typical loud argumentative self with me, but typically he was relatively soft.

His long arms wasted no time, wrapping securely around me.

"Did you see that I sent you some money for your drinks?"

I nodded my head to say 'yes'.

"Did you use it?"

I laughed and shook my head to say 'no' this time, "I don't need your money, Schlatt. I'm an independent woman."

He laughed, and placed a kiss on my forehead, "Yeah, until there's something heavy that needs moved."

I giggled at his response because he was absolutely right, but I liked watching him lift said heavy things.

I had been officially dating Schlatt for a little less than a year but we had been casually seeing each other for much longer before then. When we initially met, I was a stressed grad student with little to no spare time for a guy I had met at a bar. Little by little though Schlatt wore me down, immediately after graduating, he and I went on a trip together and came back a couple.
