Do you remember
How you told me
You'd never be proud of me?I was a literal child
I looked up to you
I loved you
Listened to everything you said
Your word was law
And you said that to me
And you've lived up to that promiseYou've never once told me
That you were proud of me
You've only ever said
How much I've messed up
How much of a failure I am
How disappointing I am
How disappointed you are in meAt least you prepared me for it
I guess
By telling me so young
That I never had any hope
Of making you happyBut I still wanted to hear those words
Just once would've been nice
"I'm proud of you."

PoetryThis is a book that's only going to have sad poems in it. This includes the sad ones that are already in my other poetry book "All My Random Poems." If you don't like sad and possibly depressing things, then don't read this book.
