~~~
Ian was laying on Mickey's chest on the couch in their apartment living room. Usually Mickey wouldn't allow this to even happen but Ian fell asleep and somehow ended up there. Mickey didn't mind at the moment. It was Christmas Eve, the tree was lit up and it was snowing outside. The lights shining down outside their 4th story apartment made the ceiling colorful. You could see the better side of Chicago, which they weren't used too. Mickey was holding a beer with his right hand and rubbing Ian's back with his left hand. He was watching a Christmas movie. It was Ian's idea but he always fell asleep when they watched movies. He looked at the clock. Only 11:03.
"What about now?" Mick said to Ian. He knows his husband is a light sleeper.
"What time is it?" Ians mouth was pressed against Mickeys chest so it was hard to hear him.
"11:03," Mickey didn't stop rubbing his back.
"Hell no what if she wakes up and walks in here."
"She won't- c'mon I'm fucking tired man."
As soon as he said that he heard little bare footsteps coming in from the other room.
"Daddy?" Said a soft voice.
Ian grinned and looked up at Mickey, "told you."
Mickey pushed Ian off of him and rolled his eyes before turning to their 5 year old daughter, Gwynn, with a smile.
"Hi baby," Mickey said in a whisper as he put his beer on the table next to the couch, "What are you doing up?"
He picked her up from her underarms and put her on his chest. She laid her head down immediately. Ian sat up and gave her a kiss on the top of her head before walking into the kitchen.
"Santa?" Gwynn asked.
"Not yet because you're still up."
She pushed up on her daddy's chest and looked at him with her mouth wide opened, "He won't come unwess I sweep?"
Mickey shook his head, "Nope, then we'll have to tell dad Santa didn't come and dad will be really sad."
Ian walked over with a cup of water for him and a melatonin gummy for her. Fiona used to make Ian take them when he was having trouble sleeping. Ian held it out and handed it to Mickey.
"Here baby eat your sleep gummy," Mickey held it in front of her mouth and she opened wide. She rubbed her eyes dramatically and laid down my on Mickey's chest with her eyes closed. Ian chuckled under his breath. Gwynn was a very dramatic little girl. Anytime they gave her anything and told her what it did, even if they were lying, she would act it out to them.
Mickey stood up, changing their daughters position from his chest to her laying her head on his shoulder, her hands clasped to his shirt.
She opened one of her eyes and looked at Ian who stood up as well. She giggled and Ian smiled at her again.
Mickey walked into her dark room, besides the night light in the corner, and set her down on her bed slowly. Ian picked up a blanket and tucked her in while Mickey pushed her red hair out of her face and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Ian did the same and walked toward her door. Once he realized Mickey was still squatted down at her bed he turned around and leaned against the doorframe with a smile.
Mickey picked up her teddy bear from the bottom of the bed and put it by her arms.
"I love you daddy," Gwynn said quietly while squeezing her teddy bear.
"I love you too pumpkin, now get some sleep so Santa can come. Dad and I are tired."
She nodded. Ian almost shed a tear as Mickey stood up and walked over to Ian.
"What?" Mickey said as Ian stared at him.
"You're such a good dad. I love you."
Mickey blushed and tried not to smile but immediately failed and let a small grin escape his lips, "shut the fuck up."
"Language! Jesus Mick!" Ian whispered.
"I fucking whispered chill," he closed their daughters door as Ian hit his chest. Ian grabbed the presents out of the closet where they had been hiding them. He placed them around the tree. Mickey smiled as he cleaned the few dishes left in the sink. The lights throughout the city slowly started to turn off one by one, except the Christmas trees shining out of the big windows from the apartment across from them. Ian walked into their room, Mickey right behind him.
"You don't think she'll go in there?" Mickey asked.
"No the lights are off. She's too scared to if we aren't in there."
Mickey yawned. He was never tired, especially at 11:00pm. Parenting was tiring. He climbed into bed and so did Ian. Mickey didn't even scoot close to him like he usually did. He just fell asleep. Ian gave him a kiss on his head and pulled his body towards him. He couldn't sleep unless he was touching Mickey. Every night Mickeys back had to be against Ians.. and NOT the other way around. Ian would yell at Mickey if he tried to spoon him.
