Leone's POV:
The death of Sheele hit us hard, especially Tatsumi, he looked to be the most affected out of the most of us. The only closure we got was hearing that Duncan made sure the bitch who killed her suffered a painful death. Speaking of which, if Duncan was affected even in the least, is very good at hiding it. He is still his grumpy self.
Speakinf of which... I opened the door to Najenda's office. I needed to speak with her about something.
Najenda: "Leone? Something can I help you with?"
Leone: "Actually, yes. I believe that Duncan needs a break from the next assignment."
She let out a long sigh and lit up a cigar. She blowed out some smoke before looking up. After a small pause, her gaze fell back to me.
I crossed my arms, expecting something out of her.
Najenda: "Yeah, I was thinking the same. Don't know what's going on in that mind of his, but... he needs a break from all of this. Even from Mine's report, she said that she didn't see much but what she heard was something that made her feel bad for those bastards. Not everyday you hear something like this. Luckily for us, he took down a Teigu user and distroyed it completely. An organic one from what I've heard.
Leone: "No kidding... So you gonna take him off of the next mission?"
Najenda: "Of course. But he might not like it. Doesn't matter, I will tell him later. Now, is that why you came here or is there more?"
I had to play it cool. I put my hands behind my head and showed a carefree smirk.
Leone: "Nah, that's all. Can't have grumpy overwork himself to death, so we cool."
Najenda: "Then if you don't mind."
I quickly nodded my head and got out of her office. As I walked down the hallway I let out a sigh.
I gritted my teeth in frustration and punched the wall.
Leone: "Damnit all to hell!"
The reason I wanted to take it easy... Last night, I still can't get it out of my head.
After he said he went for a walk, I followed him by jumping on top of buildings until I saw he wasn't alone. That Laura chick, she was... she had the same powers just as him. It didn't take a genius to know that there's history between the two, and an ugly one at that.
But one thing I felt ever since. Shame. I was ashamed of myself for not helping him out.
As the battle raged on, the only thing I felt was fear. I was dreading the very thought of jumping between them. Each strike, each blow, each punch, each kick, was delivered to intent to kill or cripple. But seeing them just shrug off so easy hits that would've killed a normal man hundreds times over... made me feel fear. And their auras... Duncan always seemed out of the ordinary, but that one time... I couldn't breath, it sent chills down my spine, it made my stomach turn. It felt like death kept a tight grip on my neck just by being near their battle.
That battle it felt alien-like and otherwordly.
But the worst came when that Laura bitch kept taunting by his dead family like it was the most normal thing. And she talked about her loving him?! It was more like an obsession!
For a moment I though that Duncan would lose seeing that he was literally pinned to the wall and started bleeding. He never bleeds! But what she did surprised me. She kept twisting the blade in his chest and forced herself on him.
