The last few days had been spent being dotted on. Everyone was so careful with him that it was almost painful to watch. Almost.

Because, hey, Sans was kind of enjoying it. He liked being lazy. He didn't have to touch a single chore for days. Didn't have to stress about loneliness when Jane or Laughing Jack was always nearby. Laughing Jack never left the room Sans was in at first. Too worried about him disappearing if he looked away for a second. That part Sans didn't like. Don't get him wrong, he adored Laughing Jack. But he didn't like knowing that his boyfriend was scared and paranoid. It wasn't a good feeling.

Things seemed to return mostly normal rather quickly. Other than the constant attention and worry, not much changed. Sans wasn't in any immediate danger anymore. He was okay, had his magic, and the threat was gone.

Jane was quick to get him a scheduled appointment for a check-in. Saturday, early in the morning. A simple checkup. They agreed to have a date afterward since he'd be going with Jane. She needed to buy some more clothes. Laughing Jack wasn't able to come, since Ben managed to get the Puppeteer's location and Laughing Jack was going to go handle him.

Laughing Jack was sweet and gentle with Sans before he left. Kissing his forehead, rubbing his thumb against his lover's cheekbone. Promised he'd be back and asked Sans to stay safe. Sans promised, of course. Because he intended to keep his word.

And there they were, in the Doctor's office, sitting nervously as the person typed in slow, methodical movements. They were an older human with a humming tune to their voice.

Jane, to the side, crossed her legs. Her eyes glanced toward the Doctor from behind her sunglasses. She looked rather cute that day, with her hair tugged into a firm and heavy bun that matched her lace and fishnet-themed outfit. Sans found himself blushing at her, quickly averting his gaze to the side. Shit. He shouldn't have dated hot people. That was a mistake he was going to suffer from.

The walls were littered with baby pictures, soul information charts, and charts about abortion resources. One specific poster that caught his eye was one about stress and the effects it could have on fetuses in physical birth. How to calm down blood pressure, therapy resources, and help clinics.

"Since this is a monster soul pregnancy, the situation to you will be different than it is to physical pregnancies," The Doctor said. They paused their typing, glancing toward Sans. "You said you have a biological child already?"

"Uh, yeah," Sans said. "She's a monster, like me."

The Doctor nodded, quietly typing. Jane and Sans stared at them in silence, waiting for the next step in the checkup.

"The soul so far looks fine," The Doctor said, clear and to the point, as they brought up several soul charts. "For soul pregnancies, miscarriages are much easier to spot as the soul will shatter and disappear. A miscarriage is unlikely to happen, too. Since that requires the soul to become unstable and you are unable to sustain it. Which only happens if you are on the verge of death. So don't almost die and the child should be fine."

"Hear that, Sans?" Jane asked. "Don't die."

"Damn," Sans muttered teasingly. "My weekend plans. Gone."

The Doctor didn't acknowledge the joke, instead making little notes in the soul chart.

"So the child is bravery, so I would recommend you spend some time reading about souls with bravery and babyproofing your house," The Doctor hummed, pulling out an information packet from a drawer. After checking it was indeed one for Bravery, he held it out to Jane to grab. She did so with a thankful expression, quickly flipping it open. "The soul type can affect their personalities straight from birth. So this child will be more likely to explore quickly. Baby proofing is a must for children of bravery. It's also encouraged to keep rooms open so they don't get antsy. More information is in there, though. If you were raising this child yourself, Sans, I would have given you a packet about human baby information for monsters. If you'd like, I can still give information to you. They will have different needs to monsters."
