I jumped ever so slightly as I heard the deafening banging on my bedroom door. As the thought of last night left my mind, I rolled my eyes at the sound of my brother vigorously pounding on my door.

"You better stop before I call the police for abuse!" I laughed as I opened my door, luckily missing his fist as I ducked under his arm. I could feel his eyes glaring down at me, filled with rage.

"Are you trying to fucking kill me or something? You know how much I hate our grandparents!" Benjamin screamed at me while moving into my room and onto my desk chair.

"It's not my fault that you're crazy obsessed with swimming!" I said annoyed, "You always get everything you want. Our parents spoil us and half of the time act like I don't exist. So suck it up!"

I furiously grabbed the rest of my luggage and hurried out of the room without saying a single word. I jumped into Angela's old car and moved over to the seat next to the window.

"Aren't you excited?" Mona sighed, turning round to face me looking annoyed and sympathetic at the same time.

"Of course I am!" I lied while fidgeting with the skull keyring on my bag. We sat in dead silence as we pulled up to the airport. We stood in the moldy airport waiting for our plane while trying to ignore the old hotdog smell.

Time felt like a death trap, seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to hours. After what felt like years of boredom, the plane finally arrived. I showed my passport to the old-looking lady as I boarded the plane. I found my seat at the end of the row and sat next to Mona. My heart almost stopped with fear when I glanced over to see a mid-age man staring right at us. I couldn't make out the details on his face as he turned away from me as soon I tried. I then took a deep breath as he looked out the misty window. How could I have let myself get so paranoid?

I needed to let go and try to enjoy myself while I could. I spent the whole plane ride either gossiping with Mona and Angela or reading the Daily News. As I moved over to the exit of the plane, I gasped to myself when I saw the same man from earlier follow me and my friends off. I tried to ignore it but I couldn't. He was behind us for a good ten minutes before I lost sight of him.

My parents met me, Mona and Angela and drove us to our new home. We reached the abnormally, large, stone house and gulped down the dry air in the back of our throats.

"This house is basically a mansion!" Angela screamed excitedly as she ran inside with her luggage taped to her side.

I giggled as I followed behind her admiring the beauty of, not just the house, but nature as well. I couldn't have asked for a better environment to grow up in. I don't even feel bad about leaving Benjamin behind. He can suck it.

I unpacked all of my precious belongings into draws, cupboards, and in wardrobes. Before I could even blink, my mum ran rapidly into the room almost slipping over the waxy floors in her new Prada heels. For a moment, I wish she had fallen because it would have been funny. But then I snapped back to reality and realized how much of a bitch that made me.

"I got you all into an excellent college with the best education!" My mum bellowed at me, jumping up and down in pure happiness.

Me and my friends exchange looks before turning back to face my mother, who was still jumping up and down.

"No way! You got us into Columbia?" We all yelled at the same time, raging with full with excitement.

"Now, now girls, just because the education is really good and you'll probably have a bright future, doesn't mean I won't go bankrupt and transfer you to a free school," my mother said, not wiping the smile off her face to show she was serious. But luckily, I know when she's serious, the girls however don't. My mother leaves the room and we scream.
