Summer break follows quickly after high school graduation. Seniors return to being freshmen again, but this time in college.

The days slowly turn to night. In the windy spring that was soon turning into the warm season that many looked forward to. Where elves would roam the back side of the Forest with friends. Or roam their village as elves do, mischievously pulling tricks on fellow buddies.

It was only late April, which is when high schoolers got out of school for the next year. Two months of Spring left. But this Forest never liked being chilly for too long. Summer was evident during May.

While others were already searching for a fun place to hang out with during this long break that ended in September, some elves preferred alone time, rather than going outside and enjoying the fresh air.

Arya Dawns wasn't one to sit outside with a bucket list of fun activities to do. Instead, she would sit and read about stories that included the characters going on fun adventures during their summers. But that was fictional. And she knew she couldn't have as much fun as they did.

It was early in the morning. April 30th. A knock on her door made Arya scan her eyes to the sound, seeing shuffling feet at the bottom. She waited for another knock, before she allowed the person to come in.

The door opened, and her mom peeked her head inside with a soft smile. She smelled of sweet candy, and of apple crumble pie. Arya thought she had just came back from one of her jobs, which included help in the bakery. Which was proved correct once she stepped into the door frame, revealing a hand print of flour on her red apron.

Arya sat on her window frame, already dressed and ready for the day in her light brown short tee and her softly woven matching brown pants. She was in her comfortable attire. Not like she'd do anything, she thought.

"Hello mom." She sighed softly.

She watched as her mom walked through the room, without saying a word. She knew that her mom was thinking of what to say, how to say it, and when to say it.
Her mother walked over and sat on the very corner of her daughters maroon comforter that laid quite messily on her bed.

"How's break going for you?" She questioned, swaying one of her legs anxiously.

Without verbally questioning it, Arya squinted her eyes as her moms legs bumped up and down. She looked down and picked at her fingers before looking outside. Lying would be a good option, because her break wasn't much to like so far, but telling the truth would please her mother more.

"It's going great." She decided on lying. She knew that her mom was the only one that could see through her, but she said it anyway.

Her mother sighed and got up. Arya saw her mom motion for her to scoot over on her comfortable couched window frame. As she sat down, she stared out the window too.

"You know, Arya." Her mothers soft voice started. "The sun is finally out again. You could really use some more color, you're becoming pale..." she gently grabbed Aryas face and turned her soft cheeks towards her, then rubbed her thumb against her daughters right cheek.

Arya placed her hand on her moms delicate back of her hand that caressed her face and moved it away to her side while she frowned. "I know mom," she squeezed her moms hand to know she actually acknowledged what she had said." But there's really nothing for me to do outside, I should study for school." Arya found it better to make up an excuse. College wasn't for another long four months. Sure, her mother knew that. It would have been anything other than questionable for her daughter to study, though.

Her mother stayed silent. As she moved her head slightly against the wall behind her, her light brown hair fell down to her shoulders. She was a beautiful woman, who had freckles running up and down her nose, onto her pink tinted cheeks. Her smile was infectious, and the whole town practically loved her. She had nice paying jobs. Being an owner of a florist shop, side baker at a bakery in the towns squares, and working briefly as a store cashier. An admirable woman.
