The morning sun came without ceremony. Only now the air had become even more of an ice box around them, the blizzard had finally ceased sometime in the few hours they had been grounded, and sure enough the snow bank had risen to nearly the windows some 8 feet above the belly of the plane. At this moment Caitlyn now found herself tickled with Violet's red curls and Violet snoring on her chest. When Caitlyn turned her head a little to see more of the plane Violet immediately snapped her head up, nearly bumping into the other woman's face. Instead the hair just brushed her nose and made Caitlyn blink.
"Shit sorry." Violet's voice was more than a little loud.
"Shhhh, I think most everyone else is still asleep," Caitlyn said softly into Violet's ear. Caitlyn had noted only a few mumbles from the seats ahead of them. But all Vi could focus on was Caitlyn wrapped up around her still and that her own hands were still wrapped around Caitlyn. That Caitlyn's breath was slightly warming her ear and cheek, all of this sent prickles down her neck extending to her fingertips. Once again her fingers twitched at the feeling, without her able to control them.
"Did you sleep at all?" Violet finally spoke after a moment of being entranced.
"Surprisingly yes, I think I was just too exhausted not to." Caitlyn admitted.
"Yeah, yeah me too, a little at least." Violet slowly extricated her now very hot hands out from under Caitlyn's coat and rubbed them together just for good measure and to try and alleviate the feeling that was still radiating into them and up to her rosy cheeks. She recalled that impulsive kiss and wondered if it was really anything to think on or just something that had happened on a whim, out of a feeling of, 'holy shit we're alive.' She decided to go with the latter.
Violet looked around the plane, "Looks like we'll have a day ahead of us, that is, if we can dig out of all this snow. I'm going to have to find my gloves."
"Indeed, I'm glad we brought a couple shovels at least, though only two, I'm afraid." Caitlyn pointed to the shovels strapped to the wall.
The plane began to creak as heavy footsteps made their way to the rear of the cabin.
"Hey how are you holding up?" Jayce's voice was calmer than expected. He looked at the two still strapped in and very close to each other and raised an eyebrow. "Need a hand with that strap?" He said leaning over, he gave it one massive tug and the thing came lose.
"Oh, thank you." Was Caitlyn's reply. Violet stood up quickly and stretched her arms and back then reached a hand down to Caitlyn to help her to her feet.
"Do you know where we are?" Vi looked to the taller man.
"Yeah somewhere just west of Stolkholm, My partner is expecting us. Well, he was expecting us last night. So if we can get to the city we should have a place to stay like we had planned."
"Right, any idea how long we'd have to go on foot?" Caitlyn asked, looking again out the window.
"Last I checked we were maybe forty minutes outside our destination by plane, on foot though... I think that's maybe 100 Kilometers. Less if we're lucky. There has to be a town between here and there, but that could take us maybe two days to get there." Jayce dropped all of that lovely information without missing a beat.
"In winter? In all this snow? How are we not going to freeze to death out there?" Vi questioned looking between the two of them.
"We brought supplies, blankets, we can try to build a fire. Take some of the things from the plane that can be burned, a seat maybe." Caitlyn suggested, thinking further on what could be done.
"Jayce this is going to take more than two days, it could take us an entire day just to get out of here." Violet looked around, taking another long look at Caitlyn's eyes before surveying the mess they found themselves in.
