It was a cool winter evening in the late 80s when my boyfriend dumped me at the Cher concert and ran away into the darkness. I decided to step forward towards the great and powerful Cher, surely SHE could offer some divine intervention.
Suddenly a man (he looked like Jesus - this surely must've been a sign) pushed past me and I fell head over heels, quite literally!
"Woah there, cowgirl!"
I looked up into eyes that resembled deep blue pools. Not just any ol' eyes. These were the eyes of Cher's MOM, Georgia! And with that, my heart seemed to Holt."Lucky I caught you there," the honky tonk woman seductively whispered into my ear "you could've hurt your gams." I struggled to form a reply, shaking in her strong arms.
'You wanna dance, partner?' growled the blonde, 'this one is my favourite!'
My heart thudded in my chest as Georgia adjusted her cowboy hat to a jaunty angle before swinging me into the crowd. "By the way lil' lady, I didn't ask. What's your name?"
"Y/n"
The older woman winked at me before saying "Pleased to make your acquaintance, Y/n. I'm Georgia - just a regular ol' honky tonk woman."
The sound of 'gypsys, tramps and thieves' reverberated through Cher's dulcet tones right into my heart. As we swung around the dance floor I prayed that the night would never end.
