Aiden Campbell met Larissa 'Lacy' Taylor on the first day of college at Harvard.

As he stepped foot on the campus for the first time, he was completely overwhelmed by the large red brick buildings and dozens of smart-looking people socializing together. Aiden had done a lap of the buildings inside after registering and collecting his dorm keys. He didn't know why he was walking around but, his mind was enthralled by the building, by the very fact that he got the chance to study there.

Aiden had not gone to any of the mixers he had seen posted on MySpace. He had a friend, Tony, who had hopes to study computer science and had gone to a school in his area. Aiden was a Chicago man, born and raised. He was the only child of a teacher and a chef. His parents encouraged him to constantly work and achieve greatness. He realized from an early age that meant going to a school nearly four hours away, the infamous Harvard.

When he was fourteen, he met Danielle Springer. She liked to be called Danny and he swore that his heart beat solely for her. They started dating, he loved her chocolate brown hair and crystal blue eyes.  Their love soon led them to evolve together and with that came the news that Danny was expecting at only seventeen years of age. Aiden was stunned.

The same day, his acceptance letter for Harvard arrived.

They worked together, deciding that this was something they could do together. His parents kicked him out. It seemed that they, although seemingly supportive of his every mood, could not come around to the idea of keeping the baby and attending Harvard. They made it work and nine months later, Lorelei Grace Campbell-Springer was born. She had her mother's eyes and her father's smile.

Although she was still a newborn, Aiden knew he had to better himself to better her. Danny wouldn't move, he couldn't convince her but he understood her. He had moved in with her mother, Grace, and her until it was time to go. He knew that he could do it, he was sure of it.

As he wandered around the campus, taking it all, he thought about Lorelei none stop. They had gotten used to calling her Rory but, whenever he was thinking deeply about her, her official name sprung to mind. He had maneuvered inside the building, watching friendships form and eagerly searching for Tony, for some Chicago familiarity.

Instead, he was met with a girl beating a vending machine.

She was kicking it repeatedly, sighing when it wouldn't bend to her will. He watched her short blonde hair swish with her head as she made her moves. She was wearing a large white sweater with a checkered brown and tan skirt. He noticed her weapon of choice, her foot, had a pair of Doc Martines on them. Probably the appropriate shoe for this battle.

He watched as she gave up, turning back around and sitting back at the table, opening a book up and tuning others out. He walked over to the machine and noticed the bag of chips that had evaded her could be pushed out if the pack behind it were bought. Aiden fished around his pockets and found a few quarters, popping them into the machine and selecting the chips. Thanks to his efforts, both bags fell out and he swiftly collected them.

"Here."

She turned around with her eyes beaming at the sight of the snack in his hand.

Larissa, who liked to be called Lacy, grew up as the daughter of an investment banker and a model. Her father, George, knew when to invest and when it was time to call it, making him millions and her mother, Catherine, knew that that type of money suited her lifestyle. They accepted nothing but the very best from their only daughter, which lead her to Harvard.

Lacy studied her ass off. She volunteered and played volleyball at a varsity level. A part of her knew that Harvard was far away from DC and that her parents would be out of her hair. She would become a lawyer and try find time for art. She thought about switching majors or dropping out but, ultimately, she couldn't bring herself to.
