JOHN MCHALE. Through the dirty streets that were being washed away with the hard fallen rain, Cian's car seemed to glow even harder as the lights from the buildings that beamed once again, and the smell of the early hot cement evaporating into the air making it a soft fog in the distance. It was definitely not what Cian hoped the night would become, but his positivity always seemed to catch him. I was a bit different; I would look at the rain and be worried the roof of my house would eventually fall, or that something would happen in the streets because of it.
We got into the club just before the rain started falling even harder, we stopped right at the front door, a line full of people getting wet and complaining about the slow service and the front guards taking ID's from people and throwing them in the street for getting a fake one. A man with an umbrella came to my door, I looked at Cian and he was already getting off from the other side, so I stepped out of the car and followed him inside, no ID checks or anything.
As I followed Cian through the main corridor, the bright lights turned dimmed and the purple and dark blue glow took over with the loud music, a pattern of flashing lights, and with seconds I see the crowd of people dancing all closed to one another, an explosion of jets of flames would go off with every beat and the sound of drinks being clinched with every couple kissing each other.
Cian walked over to the dance floor and grabbed my hand with velocity and threw his body into mine, making me dance even though I was still lost in all the sounds and lights, I could see his face for just fraction of times and all I knew was that he was happy, genuinely happy to be with me, I wanted to give in the same energy to him, but my head was telling me constantly that I was looking like taking advantage of him, and I wanted to tell myself that wasn't the case. Suddenly Cian took my hands and started swooshing them around, telling me to dance more freely, and I immediately gave in, it was too late when I noticed I was practically flinging myself across the dancefloor with him.
After the weird dance moves we made together, Cian and I took off to the bar section of the club; a guy with very tight outfit did tricks with the bottles as girls giggled at him and gave them their glasses, two women would then get up to the table and grab the pole dance and swift themselves along with the air and music. I sat just close enough to the middle of the bar, the bartender then expressed a soft smile as he gave me a glass and immediately put tequila in it. I then turned to Cian and cheered.
"You know it has been a while since I've done something like this!" He screamed as the music was too loud for both of us.
"What do you mean?" I asked him after taking a sip of the drink "You're rich, this is like a normal Friday for you!"
"No not really-" He got closer to me "-I would come to these places, but thing is I don't have anyone to come with!"
"C'mon now, what about Paula?" I asked him, and then someone patted me in the back.
"Yeah what about Paula?" a familiar voice spoke, it was her.
I would be mad at her, the things she said were still stuck in my brain since it was only a few hours since we had our encounter, but her outfit was so pretty that night, I had to for a second forget who was wearing it and just focus on the beauty of the dress. It was an all black mini dress with gold details at the end portion, a gold choker that had the Chanel symbol on and bracelets on both arms that had all different shapes yet combined so well. And then there was me with a dark green blouse and black pants with a small fake gold chain.
Cian changed his entire posture with the sight of Paula, maybe he had a different personality when around her and I was lucky enough to see that shift. He went to hug her and went back to his seat, and then I was left to look her in the eye and greet her.
