Scarlet's POV

Over the next few days, I am able to rest without anyone other than the royal family coming to check on me. It is nice, but I do wish to thank the knights that saved me. I see Leon once a day, but the others have not come around yet. Neither has anyone else, now that I think about it. I pull my attention back to Gaius as he is checking me over. After a few more minutes he pulls back, "Well I believe that you can start moving around and wearing your normal dress again."

A smile graces my face at the thought of finally leaving this room, "Isabella, I will need you to go and see Lady Morgana for a dress, and I wi-"

"My Lady," Gaius interrupts gently, "You still need to rest to finish healing. A walk outside would be helpful but not riding. As well I would not wear the clothes for too long. It may inflame the wounds."

"I understand, Gaius. Thank you for your help," before he can leave, I stop him, "Don't tell anyone yet I want to surprise King Uther and Prince Arthur."

"Of course, My Lady."

With that, he leaves, and Isabella hurries to fetch Morgana and Guinevere. I make my way to my vanity and start brushing my hair. Having Isabella with me has made it easier to adjust to this time period. I allow myself to think back to the time that I came from. All the things that I had never thought of before. Like my shower, pants, bike, and simple pain medicine. Simple things that would change everything in this time. But most importantly, my family. Here, I lost my mother and father the same time as my own time. However, my brother plagues my thoughts. Is he alive? Is he here or still in our own time? If so, what do I look like to him? Am I in a coma, or has time paused there?

"Isabella told us the news," Morgana burst into my room with our maids in tow, "Gwen quickly. Uther will grow worried when Gaius doesn't report to him soon."

Together the three women help me dress and style my hair. Morgana leaves, stating that she needs to finish something but leaves Gwen with me. Isabella left with Morgana, saying she needed to fetch some more clothes for me since I could move around now. I look over myself in the mirror. I am paler, but I guess that is in right now. I also lost weight during my captivity, but other than that, I look like myself.

"Where is King Uther normally at this time?"

"In the Great Hall Lady Scarlet," Gwen opens the door for me and we are both surprised to see Sir Leon ready to knock on the door with his fist raised.

"Lady Scarlet," his face holds confusion, "Where are you going? You should be resting."

"Gaius left not long ago and said that I could start moving around again. No riding, but a walk outside would be fine," I make my way to him slowly and try to hide my discomfort at moving, "I wanted to surprise King Uther with this good news. Would you escort me to him?"

"Of course, My Lady," Leon offers me his arm which I take, and we head to the Great Hall. Gwen follows us so that I am not alone with Leon.

"Leon, why did the other knights, the ones with you, not come and see me? I know that most of the knights served with my brother."

"His Majesty ordered that you be given time to rest."

"I see," we stop at the doors to the hall, and Leon motions to the two guards to open them. I lean into Leon a little, growing tired from my small journey. Leon slowly helps me walk into the Great Hall causing all conversation to stop.

"Lady Scarlet," Uther stands from his throne joining his son on the floor below the raised platform. Everyone watches as we slowly make our way toward them. Thankfully Arthur and his father meet us three-quarters of the way.

"Your Majesty," I drop into a curtsy. However, my legs don't hold, and Uther catches me before I can hit the floor.

"Easy, easy. Arthur, a chair," he orders, helping me walk. He helps me up the three steps to the chairs next to his throne. Once I am seated, Uther turns to the court, "Knights, nobles, and people of Camelot. Earlier this week, Arthur and a few knights came across Lady Scarlet Stanmoore. She will be staying here at the castle for now. If her brother is not found soon," he pauses, sparing me a glance, "she will become my ward."

"For now, she is a guest of the royal family," Arthur joins us, "We will speak with you all later," the court leaves. All except a few knights.

I remember Leon, Morgan, and Percival. However, the rest, I do not know, "I wanted to come and thank you for the care you gave me."

"You should have waited till we came to visit later," Uther gently reprimands me.

"I want to surprise you. Gaius said that I could start taking walks. I can not ride yet," I turn my attention to the group of men below us, "I also wanted the chance to say thank you to the men that helped Leon and Arthur with getting me back to Camelot."

"Walsh," Arthur points him out, "was with us. This is Edgar and Oliver. Do you remember Percival?"

"Yes, I am sorry for how we met," I give him a soft smile, "I did not know where I was at or if the bandits had captured me again."

"Let's not speak of unpleasant topics as you heal," Uther orders, "Unlike what I told the court, I will be taking you as my ward from this moment on. I pledged to your father that I would take care of his family if anything should happen to him, and I plan to do just that."

We speak briefly about court before the knights have to leave for their duties. Arthur helps me to the private dining area for the royal family. Morgana joins us, and we eat lunch. Uther sits quietly by as we three chat. Well, mostly Arthur and Morgana. I pick at my meal but mostly eat bread. I added to the conversation if asked a question, but my thoughts plagued my mind. Uther dismisses Arthur and Morgana after they finish, but we continue to sit in silence. We can read the other; however, neither of us says a word.

"I hope you know that you will not have anything to be scared of," Uther leans forward so that his elbow rests on the table, "Your father and I did make a deal about taking care of each other's children."

"I have no doubt in your words and promises." I mess with the edge of my sleeve, "However, I worry for my brother. I think, no fear that I always will."

"I understand your concern. We will continue to search for your brother. However, at some point if he is not found, I will have to name you heir."

"I understand King Uther."
