when they return back to beth and viv's, caitlin and steph are greeted by a flour covered beth. she lets them in, a soft playlist playing in the background as viv is in the kitchen, finishing prep with the pasta.
"well it looks like you two were having fun," steph says smirking, which gets a snicker out of caitlin.
"we're gonna go shower, if anybody shows up just let them in and we can do something later," viv says finishing up the pasta.
"have fun!" steph yells after them.
"but not too much fun!" caitlin adds quickly. beth looks back to give them a glare before they disappear down the hall. caitlin looks at the mess in the kitchen, she can tolerate a few dishes left in the sink, and a couple of foods that don't need to be refrigerated left out, but there is flour everywhere, and even steph groans in disbelief.
"best get started with it then," caitlin says rolling up her sleeves.
when they're done, beth and viv have yet to come back out, so caitlin and steph jump onto the couch and pull out their phones. the doorbell rings and caitlin gets up to see who it is. leah and jordan come bearing gifts.
"where's beth and viv?" leah asks as she puts the wine on the countertop.
"shower." both steph and caitlin say at the same time.
two years ago, caitlin probably would have been surprised that no one had a reaction, but now, its normal. everything just seems so regular now. she's gotten to know all the girls on a personal level, outside of football. sure they may be world class footballers, but to caitlin, they're regular people, the best friends anyone could ever ask for.
slowly throughout the evening, girls come knocking on the door and caitlin greets them enthusiastically. katie and jen arrive shortly after jordan and leah, with kim and manu arriving a couple minutes after them. laura, frida, noelle and stina arrive the latest, although their coordinating outfits must have been the reason.
"you're late." leah deadpans, staring at their cute yet comfortable looking outfits.
"yeah but don't we look good leah? plus, i don't see our hosts anywhere!" frida says twirling to show off her outfit, a wide smile plastered onto her face as well.
"yeah, we'll they're a bit preoccupied at the moment," katie says taking a sip of wine.
"preoccupied? with what?" frida asks with a confused look on her face. kim and leah throw a glance towards katie.
"hey! don't give me that look, not everything that comes out of my mouth has a negative connotation cap!" katie says swiveling the wine in her glass.
"moving on from that..." caitlin says waving her hand in the direction of katie who has a proud look on her face, "once viv and beth come out of the shower, we can start dinner, for now we can hang out a little bit, if you want you can grab a
drink in the kitchen."everyone sits around the living room, talking about everything but nothing in particular before beth comes out first. she greets everybody before viv comes out shortly after, and gets started with the dinner.
dinner goes well, the dinner table is filled with lots of conversations, caitlin however opts to eat silently and observe. after dinner, everybody is cooped under blankets on the large couch, not really watching the tv show, but talking amongst one another.
"hey, you guys wanna play paranoia?" beth suggests, snuggled into viv.
"how do you play?" noelle asks.
"basically somebody whispers a question to someone, and they have to say the name of the person whose most likely to do whatever the question said, then the person's whose name is said flips a coin, heads is that they never figure out what the question was, tails is the person has to reveal the question," leah says. they all gather around in a circle on the carpet and katie starts by asking a question to manu.
