"Mon amour?"
Sara looked up from her book as Charles entered the bedroom. "Hi," she smiled, closing her book and placing it on the nightstand. She was seated in bed after dinner, crawling under the duvet as she was resting, Charles was working until late. "How tired are you?" Charles asked, causing her to look at him for a second, a chuckle leaving her mouth. "What are you implying?" Sara replied. "If you feel well, I suggest you get dressed and meet me downstairs," Charles said, remaining mysterious. "Okay," Sara laughed, watching him leave again. She got up and did as he asked, moving to her closet to get herself into some sweats and a thick sweater. She slipped into a pair of sneakers and made her way downstairs, where he was waiting for her, his car keys in his hand. "Where are we going?" She asked. "Just get into the car," Charles grinned as she rolled her eyes. "You know I have a kidnapping trauma, right?" Sara said. "Obviously, now get into the trunk," he joked, making her slap his chest. Sara zipped her coat up to her chin, getting into the car as he opened the door for her.
It's been three weeks since Sara was shot, and yesterday she had a check-up at the hospital here in Monte Carlo. Earlier, her stitches were removed already. The wound had healed well, although she still had some complications here and there. The doctors estimated it would take two more months for her to have fully recovered. Sara looked over at Charles as he started the car and locked his seatbelt. It was fully dark outside, it was cold, but the heating of the car warmed her up, just like his hand that reached for hers. Charles had been out for work a week after she came back home. She loved him a lot, but him constantly being around her and wanting to take care of her, read: wanting her to nothing without either his help or Gisele's, got on her nerves, so she asked him to please get back to work. Lando was with her anyway, and the Brit didn't mind working extra hours if that made Charles feel more secure about Sara's safety. Isa had been visiting her, they had gone out for lunch and some shopping, as her friend was obviously concerned after hearing the complete story. And the complete story had been crazy. Insane even. But it was all over, it was in the past.
"Do you plan on telling me where we're going?" Sara asked. "You'll see," Charles smiled, moving her hand up, so he could kiss the back of it. She chuckled, looking out of the window again as he drove through the small state. Charles parked the car on the side eventually, walking around it to open the door for her. Sara looked up at the building they stopped in front of. She thought it might be the building with the penthouse they had been eying before shit went down. It had been a long time since they thought about moving out of the Leclerc residence, but that's also because Pascale had been visiting a friend in Switzerland for two weeks, giving them all the space and privacy in the mansion. Charles took her hand, and they went inside, getting to the reception of the building. "Do you trust me?" he asked. "Blindly," Sara replied. "You're extra lucky today, then," Charles said, holding up a blindfold that he got from his pocket. "Now's not the time to get kinky, Charles," Sara said, making him let out a breathy laugh as she turned around, and he tied the blindfold around her head. He guided her into the elevator, selecting the top floor. The door dinged as they reached the floor, and there was only one door in front of them. Sara heard him take some keys from his pocket.
Charles put them in the lock, twisting them, and the door opened. "Alright," Charles said, his hand on her lower back and the other holding her hand as he guided her inside. He took the blindfold off, showing her the new build and completed penthouse. Sara gasped softly as she looked around the spacious top floor, it was newly decorated, the smell of fresh paint still lingering in the penthouse. "Charles..." She said. "It's ours," he told her. "I bought it before... Everything happened. I hoped we could move in during the first week of January, but life obviously had other plans for us. Your recovery gave me some time to send in a construction crew and get everything done in the last three weeks," Charles explained. Sara looked around the flawless lines of the penthouse, the smooth, white walls, the beautiful interior. Charles showed her the large kitchen and dining room, a gorgeous bathroom on the lower floor. And then they went upstairs, where their bedroom and a guestroom were. Their bedroom was attached to another bathroom and a gigantic walk-in closet where she could store all of her clothes, shoes and bags.
