I'm walking through the halls with Ruby as per usual. We are walking to our last period of the day. Finally.

We go to anatomy. I don't have to try very hard in any of my classes because I am naturally pretty smart. It's a blessing and a curse.

My parents expect me to do good because I have from the beginning. But I don't have to try to hard to meet their expectations.

The one good thing about anatomy class is that Ruby is in it with me and so is Kano. Kano.

Kano Vale is the captain of the football team. Quarterback. Five start D1 prospect. He has perfect blonde hair and breath taking blue eyes.

Ruby elbows me as we take our seats, "Stop drooling."

I wipe my chin but find that I wasn't actually drooling. Ruby giggles a little and give I jokingly roll my eyes back at her.

I have been crushing one Kano since seventh grade. We have talked a few times. I tutored him freshman year. We occasionally speak in the hallways or he will ask me about homework.

As class drones on and on I tune out the teacher and begin to daydream about the future Kano and I could have.

One day, after we somehow, magically end up together, he will come running off the field, his shaggy blonde hair bouncing as he jogs over to me. He will open his arms wide to hug me and-

A pencil hits me in the back of the head. I don't need to turn around to know who it is.

Killian.

Killian is Ruby's older brother. Dumb as rock. He is class with juniors as a senior. I am pretty sure he may have even been held back a year.

I ignore him and pretend like nothing happened.

"Colette," he whispers. I ignore it.

"Colette," he tries again.

I ignore hime again.

"Colette," he whispers even louder.

"Is there something you'd like to share with the class?" the teacher says to Killian.

He looks at the teacher a little surprised but doesn't miss a beat, "I was just trying to let Colette know that there's something stuck in her hair."

My eyes widen is horror.

He's joking right? He has to be.

I feel my hair for what he could be talking about. Ruby begins looking as well before her eyes widen.

"Colette," she says as she cringes, "There's gum in your hair."

I clench my jaw as I turn to Killian, "Thank you for so kindly letting me know that you put that there. I really appreciate it."

He smirks when he sees the anger on my face.

"You're welcome."

He smiles all bright and happy. I excuse myself from the classroom and head to the bathroom.

It's takes me a while but I finally get the gum out. Turns out it wasn't a pencil he threw at me. It was chewed up gum. Gross.

When I get back to class there is only five minutes left. I pack up my things and wait for the bell.
