There was a lot of differences between the movie and book. I personally didn't really like either of them but I did find the book more interesting then the movie because there was more detail but on the other hand it was harder to get into because there was so much detail that at the start it was pretty boring. But as you got farther into the book it got more interesting cause you couldn't guess whats going to happen. I personally found the film was a bad adaptation of the book.

I find the film wasn't a good adaptation of the book because they skipped a lot of the things that happened in the book. Like the part were Jack got the Jeep. He wasn't allowed to sleep with the actual Jeep but he was allowed to sleep with the remote for the jeep. Now at night there was a part in the book where the Jack made the Jeep fall onto Old Nicks head while he was asleep but in the movie he was allowed to sleep with the Jeep and he got out of the wardrobe which he didn't do in the book. In the book when the Jeep fell on Old Nick, Old Nick woke up and tried to get Jack to talk to him and ends up choking his mom. In the movie when Jack gets out of the wardrobe he trips over Old Nicks boots and wakes him up. He quickly went back into the wardrobe as his mom and Old Nick fought before Old Nick walked out and cut the power.

Another reason I didn't find the film a good adaptation of the book is because they changed almost every ones names aside from Jack and the grandmothers boyfriends name. Like the officer who helps Jack. In the book its Officer Oh but in the movie its Officer Parker. Same with the guy who calls the cops. In the book he has a daughter and a dog and in the movie its just the man and the dog. The names name was Ajeet, his daughters name was Naisha and his dogs name was Raja. I can't remember the exact names but I know they were wrong and more American then in the book.

Overall, I found the movie almost nothing like the book. In my opinion I wouldnt tell people to watch it on their own if they have read the book, but I guess if they havent read it, it would give the general idea of the book. I would probably give it a 7.5 because it was a decent movie, and the actors played their roles very well but its not one of my favourite movies.
