The next day, Wednesday and I found ourselves at the Weathervane. Tyler was there too, but not wearing his Weathervane uniform. "I don't work today, took the day off. Where do you two need to go?"

"The train station." Wednesday was still bitter about coming here again.

"Sure, my dad's car is around the back. I told him I needed to use it, so he took the train. Follow me." We walked out of the shop and to a little garage in the back. Tyler and I sat in the front, Wednesday in the back.

It was around 2 in the afternoon, and we were driving though a path in the woods. Something bright orange was ahead.

Fire.

Coming right towards us, fast.

"HOLY SHIT!" Tyler twisted the steering wheel and did a U-Turn, my seat belt tightening and throwing me against the seat.

Tyler drove as fast as he could, before we heard an awful screeching sound. The car stopped. We both looked at each other, his eyes filled with terror, my face plastered with shock. Wednesday still had her bitter expression stuck in her emotionless scowl.

"How the fuck are we supposed to get out of this mess?" I said, panicked.

"I don't know, can we run?" Tyler's voice shook as he looked around nervously.

"There's no way to outrun a fire, but there's a way to get out of this one." Her charcoal eyes narrowed at me.

"Uh.. Wednesday? The way?" I say quickly. God, she takes awhile to get to the point sometimes.

"I had a vision. Zilla. You have a power, don't you?" Aggression hid in the back of her throat.

"Oh god... I can't stop a fire with this power, I'm not powerful enough."

Tyler glanced at me. "Isn't there another way? Something else? You don't have to stop the fire, but you can get us out right?"

I thought about the things I could do, concentrating. Then, and idea.

"Everyone out of the car. Now." I ordered. Tyler looked panicked again.

"What?"

"Out of the car." I growled.

When I stepped out, the thick smoke burned my eyes and seared through my throat. Tyler was behind me, and Wednesday was to my right. We were looking at a tree.

"Quick, we don't have much time." Wednesday's boring voice had sharp feelings within it, so I focused.

The darkness started this time, making me lose balance. A wave of nausea hit me like a truck, and I saw behind the tree glow.
"Quick.." I gasped "Go over to the tree." I couldn't see, but I waited a few seconds before continuing. "Now grab the tree, and open it like you would a door." My voice was weak now, almost a whisper.

I felt someone pick me up, and carry me somewhere. The smoke was gone, and I was laying down on something soft. I didn't care to find out what happened, so I drifted off.

When I came to, it was dark out. Tyler was sitting in a chair, and Wednesday was at her typewriter. We were back in our dorm.

"ZILLA!" Tyler rushed over to me. "You passed out! But you turned the tree into a door to your dorm, so no idea how you did that.." he trailed off. "You feeling better?" I nodded, and saw Wednesday approaching.

"It's now 7, you've slept for awhile." She said, monotone, before going back to her side of the dorm.

I sighed. Maybe it isn't best if I use my power more then once a day, until I get stronger at least. I still had a pounding headache, but the nausea was gone.

"Alright, I should go now. I just wanted to stay until you woke up." Tyler stepped towards the window.

"Wait, you're walking home alone?" I thought of the monster I saw the other night. Its bloody claws and red eyes burning a cold scar in my mind. "At night?" I finished

Tyler chucked "I'm alright, don't worry. I called an Uber." He flashed one more smile before slipping out the window. "Call me tomorrow!" He said, then slipped into the night's cold embrace.

Call him tomorrow? I don't have his.. oh wait. A slip of paper lay on top of my book, with Tyler's phone number printed on it. I rolled my eyes, fighting the smile on my face.

I turned off the light, and rolled over. I soon fell into a deep, dark sleep.

When I woke up, it was barely light out. I groaned as I forced myself out of bed and shuffled to the closet. I put on my Nevermore uniform and took a quick glance at my schedule. Botany class first, fun. I quickly grabbed by bag and books, then headed out the door. Wednesday was already there, and was sitting next to Xavier Thorpe. I've never liked that guy, he's always seemed a little strange.

I sighed, and sat down in an empty seat behind them. I was next to a very colorful werewolf, with blonde hair that had pink and blue highlights.

"HELLO! I'm Enid! What's your name??" The werewolf chirped, exited.

"I'm Zilla, nice to meet you!" My energy suddenly shifted, and I was very energetic and cheerful.

Enid smiled, before turning to face the front of the class, the lesson had started.

"Good morning everyone, I hope you all remembered to do your homework I assigned over the weekend!" Most of the class went to their bags and pulled out a sheet of paper. Wednesday and I were the only ones who didn't move. We only got here Saturday, after all.

The rest of the class was alright. I zoned out a couple times, thinking about the fire last night. That fire was a bit too sudden. I thought, questions swirling in my mind.

When the day was over, I went back to my room. It was 1:30 in the afternoon, and there was still plenty of daylight left.

So, I called Tyler. He picked up after two rings, and his crooked smile greeted me on FaceTime. "Hey, how are you?" He asked.

"I wanted to check out the fire from yesterday. The place where it was, it seemed strange..." I paused, thinking. "... it seemed planned." I said, narrowing my eyes.

"Well, I don't know how we'll get over there. My dad is pissed that we destroyed his car, but he luckily could borrow another one from the station. He said I couldn't use his car until further notice... oh hey, Wednesday." I jumped and whipped my head back to where Wednesday stood, looking down at me.

"We could walk.." she offered, cold eyes on me. "It's not too far from here. I'd say 3 miles, tops." Her icy pupils drifted off, before locking back onto Tyler and I.

"Great. Meet me at the weathervane in 1 hour. If you can."

"Will do, bye!" I turned off the phone.

"Alright, let's go."

Wednesday and I were allowed to walk to Jericho, so we grabbed our bags, and left.
We got to the weathervane quickly, and left to go to the forest with Tyler.

Once we got there, it was misty, and dark. We soon found the burnt part of the ebony woods, studying everything very carefully.

"I don't know Zilla, it doesn't seem like anything was here. I think yo was just a normal forest fire." Tyler started to walk away, when Wednesday suddenly spoke.

"Hey, look at this." She waved me over. Dark footprints imprinted the ground, and the trees beyond them were burnt, but none of the trees behind them.

"Someone was here." Wednesday whispered

"The fire..." I started.

"Wasn't.. an accident." Wednesday said, her voice sharp.

Someone had tried to kill us.
