Layla's POV

🤠~~~🐴~~~🌻~~~🐴~~~🤠

It only took one glance to know we were in the past. She was sitting on the back porch. "She" being my mother.

Layla- Mom...

Toretto pulled me into a tight side hug.

Toretto- You're okay. I've got you.

I held onto one side of the front of his black, Toretto shirt. He rubbed my back as I stared at my mother. But that wasn't all. A few seconds later a little girl ran out the door. She had blond hair in braids. She had little rubber boots and blue overalls.

Shashi- Is that?

Layla- Yea... that's me.

Shashi- At least we know that we're in the past!

Echo- Shut up!

Echo elbowed him in the stomach and he put his hands up like he was completely innocent. Cisco pulled us into a big group hug as I still held onto Toretto. After we all let go I felt tears escape my eyes. I tried to hold them in but they just ran down my cheeks.

Layla- I never thought I'd see her again. And now she's RIGHT THERE! And I can't go to her.

Toretto- I know... I know.

I wiped my cheeks and let go of Toretto, turning away from my mother and little me.

Frostee- We should try to contact Ms. Nowhere.

He lifted up his phone, about to call Ms. Nowhere.

Layla- I don't think that'll work.

Frostee- Why?

Layla- We're in the country. Our internet is shit.

Frostee- Oh. Maybe your ring?

Toretto- It's worth a shot.

I held my hand up and noticed it was shaking. Clearly, Toretto noticed too, because he intertwined our fingers. I flipped the ring open and the little screen turned on. I clicked on Ms. Nowhere and it started to ring.

Layla- It might work!

Then the screen flashed red.

Layla- Shit.

Cisco- Try again?

I clicked it again, but it quickly turned red. I flicked it closed and Toretto pulled me into a hug.

Toretto- We'll figure this out! I know we will! You need to have a little more faith in your family!

I groaned at the reused line.

Echo- Why don't we find somewhere to stay? I bet it will be getting dark soon.

Cisco- It's only 4 o'clock!

Layla- It gets dark really early this time of year. Echo's right. Pretty soon it will be so dark you can't even see your hand in front of your face.

Shashi- You lead the way, Gray.

Layla- There's an old abandoned barn about half a mile that way.

Cisco- A... Abandoned?!

Frostee- What? You scared?

Cisco- NO! I'm... I'm just worried about our safety! That's all!

Frostee- Okay...

We all headed off towards a different trail to hopefully find somewhere to not get lost in the woods... at night... in the past...

Mark's POV

🔆~~~🪐~~~🍄~~~🪐~~~🔆

Mark- They got sent back in time.

Ms. Nowhere- ALL OF THEM!?

Chris- Yea. We ran in after it happened.

Ms. Nowhere- Oh no! Frostee was the only one who could rebuild the machine last time! We don't have anyone else with that kind of experience.

Leo- I could give it a try! Frostee has been telling me all about what he does.

Ms. Nowhere- But all the plans are gone. Frostee destroyed them!

April- That doesn't seem like Frostee. Why would he get rid of any trace of something that could save the world someday?

Ms. Nowhere- Because he didn't want Dakar to rebuild the machine!

Chris- That didn't work out.

Leo- We could ask DJ drone! Maybe he could see in Frostee saved the plans anywhere on his computers.

Ms. Nowhere- Fine. I have to go talk to damage control. A lot of roads were broken apart because of those earthquakes.

She walked back towards the car she arrived in.

April- Come on guys. Let's go back to the garage.

They all started walking, but I didn't follow. I was just frozen there. Standing in front of the building our friends just disappeared in. Then I felt a hand on my back.

Rach- Are you okay?

Mark- I don't know.

Rach- Hey.

She took both of my hands and stood in front of me, looking deeply into my eyes.

Rach- Tell me.

Mark- What if we don't get them back? There goes their whole lives! And then all of us... we lose this job!

Rach- Why do you have to worry so much? Can't you just have a little bit of faith?

Mark- Have a little more faith in my family?

Rach- Yes! We're here for you! All of us! You have to stop blaming yourself for everything. We're a team. A family. We will always be in this together!

Mark- Why do you have to be so good at inspirational speeches?

Rach- Just a hidden talent. Now, come on! We gotta figure out how to save them!
