Chapter 8: Moon

Tony's POV

✨~~~🫧~~~🌼~~~🫧~~~~✨

We walked for a bit as the sun started to set. I could tell Layla was uncomfortable. She just seemed on edge. She wasn't like this the last time we got sent back in time. It must be from seeing her mother. I walked up next to her and took her hand. I squeezed it tight and gave her a warm smile. She returned it, but it didn't seem as happy.

Tony- You okay?

Layla- Yea. Just... a bit shaken up.

Tony- Was it... seeing... her?

She squeezed her lips together and took a deep breath.

Layla- Yea. I just never thought I would see her again. I lost over 10 years ago! I just got used to the fact that I wouldn't EVER see her again!

Tony- I know. I get it.

Layla- That's just it! You can see your mom WHENEVER you want. I can only look at pictures. You don't know what it feels like!

Tony- Hey. I'm just trying to help.

Layla- I know. I'm sorry. I'm just really stressed right now.

She dropped my hand and brought hers up to her face. She rubbed her eyes and took another deep breath. I wrapped my arm around her waist, my arm under her jacket. She laid her head on the side of my arm as we all continued forward.

Cisco- Are we almost there?

Frostee- Now you wanna get to the abandoned building!?

Cisco- It's getting dark! And we're in the woods!

Layla- Cisco. You're fine. I snuck out to the woods... like ALL the time. You'll make it. It's only a little further.

Shashi- What are we gonna do when we get there? Where are we gonna sleep?

Layla- It's an old barn. There's actually a horse in there. I found that place one night and came to hang out with him every night.

Echo- Like a stray horse or someone owns it?

Layla- Someone probably owns him, I just felt bad he was always locked up. I would let him out. I even got him to the point where I could ride him. He grew to trust me.

She had a smile on her face for a few seconds before snapping back to reality. I missed that smile. We turned a corner and there it was. A pretty busted-up old barn.

Layla- Welcome to my hideout. Technically... in the time we are in now... I haven't found this place yet. I didn't find this place till... after.

I walked up to her and held her close. We walked in with my arm still around her. She flipped a switch and some dim lights turned on. She walked over to a stall and sure enough, a head came over the gate.

Layla- Hey, buddy!

She put her hand out and he put his nose against her palm.

Layla- Hi!

She began to pet him up his face and into his mane. She took my hand and held it to his nose. He snorted under my touch. Layla giggled.

Shashi- What's his name?

Layla- I don't know his real name. I always called him Moon.

Shashi- Moon?!

Layla- Yea! I met him at night. The moon is out at night! I was little, okay?! Jeez!

Frostee- How are you doing, Cisco?

Cisco- O...okay.

Layla- Come here.

She walked over and took his hand. She pulled him towards Moon and put his hand on Moon's nose, just like she had with my hand. Moon sniffed it and Cisco started to pet his head. Cisco got a big smile on his face. Layla seemed to know what she was doing.

Layla- Feel any better?

Cisco- Yea!

Layla- Horses make everyone happy.

Echo- Everyone better get comfortable! It's gonna be a long night.

Layla- There's a couple open stalls. Take your pick.

I took her hand this time and dragged her to one of the stalls next to Moon's. As we were laying down, I pulled her closer to me by her waist. She giggled and rolled over to face me, still with her beautiful smile on her face. I touched my forehead to her's.

Tony- I love you.

Layla- I love you mostest.

She giggled again before I leaned in and kissed her. She held the back of my head and moved her fingers around in my hair. I held her waist and broke the kiss to roll on top of her. She smiled again before I connected our lips again.

Frostee- I know you guys are still in your honeymoon phase or whatever, but maybe don't do... that here.
