Invite to the Ball

Estelle's POV

So the ball was announced a couple days ago. Boys have already started to ask girls. I even heard Cho talking to her friend, about asking Cedric. I know she has a crush on him. Cedric would most likely say yes. Which hurts me a little as I want to go with him. But I know he'd never ask me.

Anyway the girls have barely left my side since the ball was announced. Which is a little annoying as I am trying to study and enjoy me time. I have three Essays due on Monday and I promised to help Neville study. One for Potions, one for Charms and one for Care of Magical Creatures. I finally managed to give my friends the slip and went to the library.

I got the books I needed and went to the window I usually study by. I set the books down and get started on my homework. Deciding to do Potions first. While I wait for Neville, I was helping him study again today.

Cedric's POV

"Ok, she'll be in the library" Angelina tells me.

"Great, thanks" I say. "Are you sure she'll say yes?" I ask her.

"Yes" Alicia states.

"Ok, I'll go now" I tell them. "Oh Patricia, I hope it's ok that Raven was in the paper" I say.

"It's fine, she may not do pats. But loves praise" she states. "Anyway, go get her tiger" she tells me and they left. I take a deep breath and head towards the library.

Estelle's POV

"So where did you get the book?" I ask Neville. As he was reading another herebology book.

"It's one of the ones Professor Moody gave me" he states.

"You mean the ones he gave you after torturing a spider in front of you" I say.

"Yeah" he says sheepishly.

"What's it called?" I ask him.

"Magical Mediterranean Water-Plants and Their Properties" he answers. "Did you know there's a plant that allows you to breath underwater?" he asks me.

"Yes, though I prefer the bubble head charm" I tell him. "Asked anyone to the ball yet?" I ask him.

"No, but I was thinking of asking Hermione as a friend. She's always helping me study and is a good friend" he states.

"I hope she says yes" I tell him. "So what do you need help with?" I ask him changing the subject. Before he can ask if I've been asked. He grabs his school bag and takes out a notebook.

"Um, History of Magic. We're doing Goblin Rebellions" he tells me.

"I hated history" I tell him with a groan. "Anything else?" I ask him.

"Transfiguration, colour change charm" he states.

"Now Transfiguration, my favourite" I say with a smile. I look around and notice a slytherin. I smirk. "Watch this" I tell Neville as I draw my wand. I point it at the slytherin. "Colovaria" I say and the slytherin's hair turned green. Neville covers his mouth to hide his laugh.

"You know I can report you for that" someone says behind us. Neville and I turn around startled. To see Cedric Diggory.

"Please, she was just helping me study" Neville says.

"It's fine Neville" I assure him and write down a list of books. "Go give this to Madame Pince" I tell him. He takes the list and left. "Now Cedric, I was only having a little fine" I tell him.

"Change his hair back and I'll forget this ever happened" he tells me. I sigh and do so. "Anyway, I was wondering if we could talk?" he asks.

"We are talking" I tell him.

"Right, any way has anyone asked you to the ball?" he asks me.

"Nope" I state. "The girls and I made a pact, if no on asks us. We'd all go together" I tell him. "Though I'll probably be the only without a date" I state.

"Why?" he asks me confused.

"Daughter and niece of two death eaters. Remember" I remind him. I look out the window looking at the clouds.

"But you aren't them" he tells me.

"I know" I say.

"Anyway will you go to the ball with me?" he asks quickly.

"Yes" I say absentmindedly as I look at cloud shaped like a dog.

"Great, see you at the ball" he states.

"Wait, what?" I ask him confused as I look at him.

"See you at the ball" he says with a smile and kisses my hand before leaving. I blush scarlet.

"You ok cuz?" Neville asks when he returns.

"Yeah, I gotta go" I tell him as I pack up my books.

"But we were going to study" he states.

"Something important has come up. Borrow the books and I'll help you study tonight in the common room" I tell him. Then ran out of the library. I run to the quidditch pitch. "Girls!" I shout and they land.

"What's up?" Alicia asks me.

"I just did something stupid" I tell them.

"What?" Patricia asks.

"I was asked to the ball by Cedric and said yes" I state. They squeal. "Guys this isn't good, he's a champion. If word got out he went to the ball with a daughter of a death eater. I wouldn't look good" I tell them.

"You know he doesn't care about that" Angelina reminds me.

"He doesn't, but his parents and friends might. This could ruin his life" I state.

"It's just a dance Estelle" Alicia assures me.

"Besides you like him" Patricia adds.

"That's beside the point" I state.

"Estelle, you went through a lot last year. You deserve to be happy and go to the ball with the guy you like" Angelina tells me. "Now next Hogsmeade weekend, we're all going to Hogsmeade to get shoes and accessories for the ball" she states. The other girls agree and I groan.

Cedric's POV

I was walking down a corridor happily, heading for the Owlery. When I bumped into Cho. "Hey Cho" I say cheerily.

"Hey Cedric" she says with a smile. "Glad I bumped into you, I have a question for you" she tells me.

"Go ahead" I tell her.

"Want to go to the ball together?" she asks.

"Oh, I'm sorry Cho. I've already asked someone and she said yes" I tell her. She becomes upset. "I can save you a dance" I state.

"I just told a second guy no, because you had asked me!" she snaps.

"Well you shouldn't of done that" I tell her. "Anyway, I gotta go. I'm sending my mum an owl to tell her the good news" I state and left her standing there. I feel bad for hurting her feelings. But I'm going to the ball with the girl I've had a crush on for a year. Nothing could ruin my mood.
