Eleanor hated the first day back at school after summer. Especially when you had spent your entire summer break, and the last week of school, in Hawaii and you just got back last night and you're exhausted. "Eleanor, mom told me to tell you to hurry up." Penny burst into Eleanor's room as the girl rolled her eyes. "Well tell her to wait another 5 minutes, I haven't finished my makeup yet.""But mom said-" Penny began as Eleanor threw her a glare. "Okay." Penny mumbled as she walked away leaving her door wide open. Eleanor grounded as she curled her lashes aggressively, almost catching her skin. As she did so, she stared at the new ballet slippers her father had bought her at some fancy shop in France. He did come on vacation with the rest of the family, until he had to fly to Paris for a small business trip. He didn't apologise for having to leave the vacation, but he bought Eleanor expensive ballet slippers and Penny got some 'top of the range' watercolours.
"Eleanor Brown Mueller-Lawton, if you don't get down here right now we're gonna be late!" Chloe yelled up the stairs. Eleanor furrowed her eyebrows and she checked her watch. "School doesn't start for another 40 minutes!"
"Well you won't be late, but I'm meeting up with the other moms outside the school to talk!" Eleanor knew that meant gossip. "Also it's the first day, a lot of people arrive early to get their timetables and see where all their classrooms are." Chloe defended as Eleanor stopped curling her lashes. "Fine, one minute!" She yelled as she quickly grabbed her mascara and put it on before grabbing her pocket mirror and lipgloss and shoving it into her pocket before clambering downstairs. "Finally let's go." Chloe sighed as Eleanor slipped on her shoes and sat in the car next to her sister.
"Ugh, look who is in front of us." Chloe mumbled and Penny and Eleanor both peered forwards to see a familiar blue minivan. Penny smiled as Eleanor scoffed. Eleanor has began to stop agreeing with most of her mother's opinions, most of them being about dieting and excessive exercise, but she did agree on her hate for the Otto's. Or specifically one member of the Otto family. Oliver Otto.
Oliver Otto is stuck up, snobby, rude and just downright an awful person. He's absolutely desperate to get a scholarship to Harvard and doesn't let anything get in his way. He sadly is also smart. Really smart. Until he had moved there, Eleanor was top of all of her classes and she didn't even have to really try. Now she had to fight to keep that position and often did but sometimes she would make a small slip up and he would steal the glory of first place away from her.
"Is that Anna-kat's car?" Penny asked grinning wildly as Chloe rolled her eyes. "Don't know if you can even call that thing a car, but yes it is the Otto vehicle." She sneered and Eleanor groaned. Yes she didn't like the Ottos because of the awful family member by the name of Oliver, but she would never stoop so low to make fun of someone's wealth or lack of it. "I love Anna-kat."
"No, you don't, Penny! You hate Anna-kat like how Eleanor hates Oliver and I hate Katie, got it!" She yelled angrily as Penny frowned. "But I don't hate-"
"Just leave it Penny." Eleanor whispered as she patted the girls leg. "But Eleanor, I like Anna-kat. She's my friend." Penny whispered back and Eleanor nodded as they pulled up in the school car park. "I know Penny but now isn't the right time okay." The older girl replied as she climbed out of the car and saw her friends waiting outside of the school for her, as did her mothers friends.
"Bye Penny, bye mom." Eleanor waved goodbye to her sister and walked past her mom on her way to her friends. "Ellie, hey!" Nadia called out making the rest of the group turn round to see her. The group all said hello and began a conversation. "Oh my god, look ,Cooper Bradford!" Audrey squealed excitedly.
