The umbrella

Right at 7pm, finally rhea able to turn off her computer and prepare to go home. Not every day she needs to stay 2 hours behind to finish all the work for the week, but it pays well for her. Rhea gathers all the belongings into her purse before checking her watch to realise she is late to prepare dinner for her child, quickly she orders some delivery for both of her children at home.

Rhea is your typical single mother who works for bills and her child needs. Not the perfect life she would imagine her young self planned, but her lovely child is the dream come true for her. a 14 years old teenage boy with a bunch of talent and potential, and one 6 years old lovely daughter who is really smart and kind. It's not a secret anymore that her husband left her and their children to marry some rich and fancy girl who is a lot younger than rhea, but it is in the past, and rhea won't care anymore as long as her children's with her.

Rhea throws her gaze to the big window around the place and sees the water drop dampening the outer surface of the window. Ah, rhea doesn't bring her umbrella today, and the rain outside is getting heavier. How can she go home without a single droplet on her clothes or waiting too long.

Determined to just think about it later when she is outside, she takes her long leg to the nearest elevator and waits until the elevator arrives on her floor. Not even 5 minutes of waiting, the elevator door opened with one man inside.

"Ah, hi theo... going home late?" rhea ask to the men named theo with a small smile

"Ah, yes... the director is really such a pain in the ass sometimes" theo answers while holding the elevator door while rhea slips into it "I see that you are late as well, nick and rion alone at home then?"

"Yeah, the pay is really interesting for this one project, so I had to stay. Luckily both nick and rion are such smart children, they'll know what to do and what not in certain circumstances" rhea answer while the elevator door closes.

They stay in comfortable silence until the elevator reach the ground floor where rhea got out of the elevator, in a slight stare, theo realise that rhea have no umbrella with her while theo knows that she has no car and she needs to ride the train to be able to go home, and it won't end with complete dry. And theo care about rhea more than he would love to admit, so when the elevator door opens at the basement, he runs fast to get the umbrella at his back seat of his car and back as fast as he could.

Yeah, you probably guessed it right... Theo is in love with rhea, that's why he doesn't mind running to get to his umbrella only to give it to rhea.

Theo might be 2 years younger than rhea, but the 1 year they work together in internship before they separated in different departments really helps theo to fall in love slowly to rhea, and he is so sure of it. Hearing her story and how strong she is while her tears fall when she told her story, hearing how she only wants to have a small and lovely flower shop in the outskirts of the city, and how she always tries to be with her child every second of it.

Theo always wants a simple yet determined spouse, pretty and gentle person for his delicate way of loving. And rhea shows him just how gentle she is whenever theo hangs out with her and her child, she is such an epitome for gentleness in theo eyes.

He got out of the elevator immediately looking around for a small figure of rhea, and there she is standing just an inch from the water droplet from the rain, theo never been so jealous of ridiculous things in his life like he is now jealous of how close the water to rhea absolute figure.

"Rhea..." theo tap lightly to rhea shoulder announcing his presence near her

"Eh, theo... do you need anything?" rhea asked confused on why theo is here, as far as rhea remember, theo has his own car, so he won't be trapped here in the rain waiting.

"i..." theo tighten his hold on the black umbrella "actually nothing, it's just, I see you didn't bring your umbrella, so I want to give you my umbrella"

"Huh... I thought you didn't bring it as well since I didn't see you holding your umbrella at the elevator" rhea saw a slight blush on theo face

"No... I put it in my car, actually" theo scratches his neck, embarrassed that rhea realises that he does go the extra mile for her.

That moment, rhea smile brightens realising that theo willingly does an extra mile for her. Honestly, rhea has a pretty huge crush on theo. Since their met. At first rhea thought that it was only admiration for theo, because despite his young age, he is really wise and a great listener for rhea who has never been heard before. The feelings develop even bigger when theo willingly be rhea anchor sometimes in her lowest time, or when they hang out but rhea can't leave her children alone, theo gladly met her children, even become really close to them to the point her child always asks for him.

"i..." theo feel even embarrassed when he hears nothing from rhea, but the smile on rhea face didn't go unnoticed by theo and makes him bolder "or better, I could send you home first... it's late and the the rain is getting heavier each second passed, if you don't mind"

"ahahahahaha...." Rhea laughs from theo sudden boldness "it's you I need to ask if you mind? Because I know it's such a long journey from here to my place, and even longer from my place to yours"

"Well, I mean... I'll do it 100 times if you need it" Theo whispers that somehow rhea hears, and it makes her whole body warm to hear someone would do such things for her, even though they know almost everything from rhea past.

"You could stay awhile then if you need, both rion and nick miss you, actually" theo face brightened immediately after hearing what rhea says about her child missing him, rhea secretly laugh at theo facial expression, and she decide to be bold "and maybe you could come over tomorrow for playdate"

"Playdate? I mean I would love to, but I have no child?" theo a little bit confused by what rhea said, did rhea forget that he has no child yet despite his age? While theo is confused, rhea pays closer attention to his relaxed demeanour and face complexion, getting two steps closer to theo, rhea smiles lightly.

"I mean, my child could play while we date..." rhea short explanation that makes theo expression even better, big smile and bright face "that is, if you would like to?"

Eager, theo hug rhea right away in front of the building front door, and take rhea hand to guide her to his car so they could be at rhea house immediately, talking and having a great time together with her child. At the end of the day, Rhea gave theo a small kiss on theo cheek, and a gentle kiss on his lips afterward. That day theo became the happiest version so far.
