You grabbed your small leather bag from the passenger seat and closed the car door before making your way into the woods. It was a sunny late afternoon. You came here in order to decompress, as you've had quite an upsetting morning. There was a certain spot at the end of the forest, where there was a dock and a beautiful lake. It was your absolute favourite place, and that since you've been a teenager, to free your mind of all problems and life in general. Coming here in this specific moment simply felt right.

As you slowly walked between the tall, old trees crowding the woods, you grabbed your headphones from your black bag and played some chill music to block out any noise and be in your little bubble of emotions. You looked up as you made your way to your hidden spot; the sky was one of the most gorgeous blues, clouds were nowhere to be seen.

You sighed to yourself as you finally got to the lake. You took a minute to look around at the mesmerizing place this was; the darker water with nenuphars all around, along with the beaming sun bringing an additional warmth to the air. The place looked magical, almost like it was out of a movie, exactly as you remembered it.

You finally sat down at the end of the dock, setting your bag right next to you. Taking off your shoes, you decided to dip your toes in the warm water. You smiled at the feeling and breathed in deeply, taking in the familiar view of the lake once more before you closed your eyes, focusing on the music playing from your headphones.

You didn't seem to notice time passing as your playlist brought you back deep into your mind, almost as if you were out of this world for a long moment. Memories kept coming back to you, both good and bad, as suddenly you felt a light tap on your shoulder-

"Oh my god what the hell!!" you screamed out of fear, your eyes opening fast and your heart beating as quickly as it possibly could. Taking your headphones off and looking up in panic to see who just tapped your shoulder, you frowned in confusion as your gaze fell upon the girl.

"I'm sorry for scaring you, I thought you were dead for a second." she laughed a little, trying to lighten your mood as you panted, trying to catch your breath from the initial panic. "I was calling out but you wouldn't answer, clearly because you're listening to something? I absolutely love your headphones by the way." she smiled sweetly, pointing to your headphones. Still left with no words, you looked down and grabbed your bag to put your headphones away, "I'm Jenna, by the way. Again I'm like- so sorry I didn't mean to scare you like that." she stood next to you, biting her cheek guiltily.

You tightened your messy bun and looked back up at her, "That's okay. I'm sorry I got so startled, I was really lost in thoughts." you shook your head and cracked a small smile, "Jenna huh? As in, Jenna Ortega?" you raised an eyebrow. The girl obviously looked really familiar, but you didn't want to assume anything. She nodded, "Mhhh yeah, that's what people tend to call me." she giggled softly, making a small laugh coming out of you as well. You mentally hit a wall as you realized such an amazing person stood next to you, but you tried to brush it off and act cool.

"I- well, hi Jenna?" you blushed a bit, obviously getting shy. As you kept looking at her, you realized that she was dressed quite comfortably; grey sweats and a loose t-shirt, along with black converse. She was also carrying her bag with her, and was wearing both headphones and earphones around her neck. She laughed, "Hi, stranger. What's your name?"

"I'm y/n." you smiled and she smiled back in the sweetest way, "Well then, hi y/n. It's really nice to meet you. May I sit with you?" she asked, referring to the empty space next to you. You felt hesitant, since you weren't in the best of moods, but you also instantly nodded, making her smile. "Cool." she said before sitting down next to you, placing her bag behind her. She grabbed her earphones and only put one in her right ear, leaving the other loose, before she reached for her phone to put on some music herself. You watched her every move in complete silence, intrigued.

She eventually placed her phone down and looked back up, smiling to herself as she looked around the place. "I do have to admit, this is usually like, my secret hiding spot." she giggled quietly, turning to you with a smile. Your eyes widened a bit at the thought, "Really? Me too..." you spoke almost inaudibly, playing with your fingers. She raised an eyebrow at your words, "Well then, maybe this was meant to happen." she smiled, your eyes meeting her brown ones. Captivated, you gave her a small smile in return before you forced yourself to look away, back at the lake. She did the same. "So what brought you here?" she asked curiously, sounding like she genuinely cared. All of this felt a little unreal to you.

You wiggled your toes in the water, hesitant to open up about such a subject. After thinking for a short moment, you decided to just go for it; you probably wouldn't see her ever again anyway, and you really needed someone right now. You looked down at your hands, "Life sometimes is just... you know, you try to be the good guy in the situation and then you end up being the one getting hurt?" you shrugged a bit as you spoke quietly, holding back your tears. "My girl- well, ex-girlfriend of almost three years, cheated on me last night and dumped me, this morning." you whispered, almost not believing yourself what just came out of your mouth.

Jenna's head quickly snapped around to look at your face again, her eyes wide. "Please tell me you're not being serious right now?"
